Title: Small mods Celli a bit more 'Old School'
Post by: Celli on June 19, 2008, 11:45:02 PM
Little time. So, still under construction  [roll]. Gold on frontforks was too modern for me. Changed it in more 'Old School' Ducati red. I hope you like it. It's different... Looks great in real, though. Steps also more 'nostalgic' and not slippery anymore  :D. New barend weights (Rizoma). More pics on website.

I love the red and freaking love your bike. Everytime you post something is changed on it  ;D I remember you said you planned on changing the headlight? What are you thinking about making?

those forks look like the coating of a cherry dip vanilla ice cream cone.

How long did it take for u to wrap them.

;D I can understand that you're not sure about this. I can't blame you. It will not be everybody's taste. And, indeed, they look like icecones [cheeky]. Here are some more pics you asked for. ;)

Wrapping costs me a couple of hours. I honestly hate to do it, but the result/finish is great.

Headlight-project is still on, but I'm still waiting for 'something' from Italy...... OMG

What do you mean, you "tried" to?  Were you somehow unable to do it?  Pretty straightforward job so let us know if you need any tips.  As for the bike, I applaud your creativity and vision.  But I fear I'm too old school.  If that's old school then I'm fossilized prehistoric school.  Just not my taste.  But the beauty of Monsters is that they're a wonderful blank pallette for each owner/artist to create his/her own vision.  Keep going, have fun, and ignore old pharts like me whose eyes bleed when they see it.

I like the black forks better.  Celli, what is the carbon bit on the left side of the bike below the frame slider and in front of the belly pan?

I like the black forks too. But I like the red more (at the moment  ;D). The airscoop was ment to be a new home for the oilcooler but is now cooling off all the stuff underneath the seat.

Fantastic bike, as everyone has already noted!!  [clap] Talk about a canvas with MANY layers of paint!!   [thumbsup]

-Just a quick question out of curiosity, if you don't mind; The seat...

-I run a Sargent seat which is quite roomy compared to stock, and it's nice to be able to move forward + back depending on what style of riding I'm doing that day (spirited twistys -vs- cruising). How do you find the seat as far as roominess goes?

-Just curious.. It looks very cool!!

Johnster, thanks! I made the seat in a way that I can even move more backwards than stock (with seatcoil). It's more flat at the end, that's why. When I try to sit as far back as possible, I'm still sitting (on the seat  [laugh]).

Absolutely gorgeous bike!  This is what makes the Monster so cool.  Your bike and c_rex's are my favorite of all the bikes I've seen on the DMF, but they are VERY different.

...but I still think that the swinger should be red!   8)

...and the sprocket/carrier could use some attention!  ;D

Is the headlight assembly from a 999?  Is it a direct bolt-on?

Thanks! Swinger: I know you like it in red. ;D  Sprocket/carrier: I'm busy in that region.  ;)
Headlight says Lamborghini. It's not a direct bold-on. The carbonunit is custommade.

Thanks Chris. I just love to do this kind of modding and doing my 'thing'. Every time there is some tension though, if it will turn out right. Particularly when there is no way back.....  ;D
The helmet is from Shoei.  ;)

How did you make your rear hugger so long... is it two bolted together or what?
and im loving the light so futuristic, your bike is amazing.

The carbon hugger (first part) is an aftermarket product. The second part, also carbonfiber, is custommade. The headlight I bought at a bikershow. It has a Lamborghini logo on it. Thanks.  :)
