So i just got a new Arai RX-Q DNA helmet. Great helmet, i really love the fit but one thing, the under the chin strap is ripping my neck to shreds(rubbing). My old Shark helmet had more padding on the strap, this one not so much. I was wondering what some that maybe have the same issue have done to relieve this problem. Do they make some sort of padding you can buy, or a sleeve or something? I've even tried loosening it a little but it's not really the under the chin thats rubbing its the side of the strap rubbing my actual neck by my adams apple.
i cant remember, but when i looked at a rx-q this past weekend i remember thinking that the left shorter strap was really short compared to the vector2/rf1100. maybe it just might be a issue with your neck shape and the shortness of the strap? have you tried on other helmets?
i have a shark RSR2...it just has better padding. The strap length is fine(i'm only 135, 5'8...so scrawny neck...hahaha). it's the edging thats doin it not the length being to short. i was just wondering if they made some sort of small sleeve that would wrap around to keep the strap from pressing against the skin.
your helmet is just has a strap with no padding at all? the rxq i looked at had a sleeve on both of the straps IIRC. maybe you got a helmet with a missing one?
no, it has some padding, not as much as the Shark or as much as i need. my neck just gets irritated easily from having to shave every other day for work...so the more padding the better. i just thought that would maybe make a sleeve...especially for cheaper helmets that have like no padding in the strap area. Maybe not though.
Just a thought but some quick stitches and a wrist sweat band might be a simple fix until you find what your looking for?
