In February 2007 Desmostro had a bit of a crash in Marin County. Turns out a lot of other people had crashed there too. So a few of us from the (ahem) old board decided to make a guerrilla warning sign (http://www.ducatimonster.org/forums/ducati-mob/159814-crash-spot-getting-famous-you-might-want-get-know-5.html#post1886481) (WARNING: link is to the ad-laden legacy board) and post it at that dangerous section of road. It's been a year, and I'd like to cruise by and check out our work to see how it's holding up.

Wish I could! Great fun last time we rode out that way to check the sign was when Zee was here! [thumbsup]
I'll be doing another 500+ mile ride this weekend so I think I'm definitely doing my time ... and loving it! ;D ;D [moto]
IN! Sweet. [moto]
New sign?
Myself and the lady are a maybe, pending her OK. 9-10 kickstands up works for me. Is Tambucks the one on Shoreline HWY right off 101? I think I've been there before.

That's exactly the spot! Tam Junction.
9AM is generally a decent start time. Let's see who else is in then decide on a start time.
I might give it a go. [moto] Definitely gonna be off my usual pace....it's been a while since I've been in the saddle, and I'm still not 100%.

There's something about going to see a famous crash site that says, "take it easy riding." ;)

No worries at all! If you need to take breaks, that works just fine.
I finally found out where to get statistics. CHP in Sac. has them all. They are sending them soon. Cool. I want to see this.
First post updated with time! Let's aim for a 9:30 departure from Tambucks.
Then I'll be at your place with empty espresso cup in hand a hair pre-9:am ;D
I'm probably in. I have some plans sunday afternoon, but I might be able to push them to sunday evening. Hopefully I'll see you all at Tambucks.

we're a fur sure. Our two triples will throw off the entire harmonics of the ride, but oh well.

The crash anniversary is the one we don't like. I seem to recall us riding by there on that day, giving the bird to the spot.
The sign anniversary is a happy occasion. Us hooligans taking the first step toward righting a wrong [thumbsup]

Great riding with you guys! Gorgeous day, bikes, cheese, sign. Now I'm kind of pissed I didn't pass the other half of the hardleys. I just wasn't feeling it at the time. Kind of had the mellow button stuck on today after I stopped shaking from D4's espresso4 this morning. [cheeky]
(Em had cornbread muffins waiting in the oven when I got home [thumbsup] There is good in having a g-friend who doesn't ride much! )
Cheers [beer] [beer] [beer]
Good ride today!! It was great to finally get back in the saddle! [moto] That was some seriously overdue throttle therapy!!
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Harley-Davidson for providing the endless line of passing practice. [laugh][moto][laugh][moto][laugh] Too bad that the passengers had to start sticking legs out to block everyone's passes. Lame. :P
It was great to see everyone again. Hopefully I'll be able to ride more often... guess I'll know more with tomorrow's MRI.
Thanks for coming out everyone!
And yes, in case you didn't hear, I crashed on the sign ride :-[
Coming up to Tomales-Petaluma Rd, I was pulling over to stop and wait for everyone, when my front wheel hit some gravel...with the brakes on. The bike went out from under me so fast I didn't have time to react. I was on the ground, then the bike was on the ground, then I was up. Minor damage, as the frame slider did its job. The shoulder is a bit sore, but nothing a little Icy Hot won't fix. Time to update the ticker, 'Belle :P
Awesome ride! Thinks for leading DQ! Thanks for sweeping and documenting ptam!
It's amazing how well that sign has held up! Honestly, if you didn't know it, you'd never suspect it wasn't a county installed sign! [laugh]
Good on you guys for puttin' up that sign. Hopefully it did it's job. Desmo, I thought the idea was to prevent crashes with this sign... whatta doin' out there? [laugh] Glad you're OK. Ticker updated.
Looks like fun. Well, for the most part. :)
What's the deal with the sign? Is it made of coroplast or something? If so, its creator did a good job, judging by the pictures.

The sign is made from clear acrylic. The base yellow layer and the black detail layer are duct tape. And there's a layer of hard resin over the duct tape.

You should have seen how cautiously he road after that. .. For about a mile. Then back to one wheel in the air. [laugh]

That's why he crashed.... he had both wheels in contact with the ground! If he only had one down, he wouldn't have crashed! [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
Good times!!! Thanks for letting the fast Brit bike and the slower "Jetson" bike tag along. :) I didn't see the crash, and there wasn't any damage, so I don't think it really happened. :o
And "F" that harley group. I've met very cool harley riders (real riders), and they definitely weren't. I laughed to myself when I saw them all struggling to go through the L-R shicane on Nicasio. [laugh] "Strength in numbers, bro!!" [laugh]
