I am a new member and being an observer on this forum for a while. It's a great site! [thumbsup] (except some hating/entertaining threads against new 696 [evil])
Anyway, I put my deposit down for over 2 weeks ago, the salesman told me it takes about 2 weeks to get a red one. Till today nothing - and still waiting for a red one. The dealer has 1 white and 2 black in stock.... just no red. Sales guy told me they should have more coming in about another 2 weeks.
I am at Southern California, any experience when ordering with dealers, what's the average wait time?
One more question - does the bike come with the small bikini wind deflector as standard equip or sold as accessory? Dealer says they don't know, because it seems the second shipment does not come with it and i have to buy it.... is he bs or it's true? ??? ???
Thanks.

Depends on the dealer, some have them in stock already...
I've a deposit on one in LA... (wonder if it's the same dealer) My bike was supposed to be here last week, haven't seen it yet... they also have a dark and white avail.
Dealer in NY has more Red the Dark. My dealer mentioned that they receive shipment every 2 weeks.
They're trying to get you to pay for a piece that should be yours with the bike. I would be very wary of using that dealership, they don't seem to be all that trustworthy,,
I got my red one on May 30th. [coffee]
My red 696 arrived at dealer on 5/20.
It took a couple more weeks for the Termis to come in and I took delivery last week. ;D
Well worth the wait! [thumbsup]
I have a red one. Buy a matte black one and I will swap body work with you.
still waiting on red
put deposit down months ago

Nice...... i like the Termis setup.
Atlanta Motor World has a Red 696 with the CF Termis for sale. They also have a dark 696 w/o Termis. I think the red one is under $9500 with Termis and the upgraded seat.
argh....
just checked the mail, and received a notice that "my loan application has expired and i will need to reapply"
indicating that it's now been more than a month since they approved me for the red 696 that will "be in any day now"
that i've had a deposit on since feb.
on the upside, if the only thing i really have to complain about is that i can't get the specific bike i want in the specific color i want right now, life must be pretty good
it got "the call"
picking up friday
[edit]
i got the call, not "it"
Seems like patience is a virtue with Ducati.....
Put a down payment on a red 696 in March....still no news... [coffee]
I'm looking into asking my dealer for some extra options.....by the time it gets here, I'll be needing snow tires with chains and a heater kit!!! LOL [moto]
Ahhhhh....life is good when the only thing left to do is wait......

this whole "order a vehicle" thing is new to me....
used to buying whatever's on the lot or having someone drop a broken down bike off in my garage while i'm not looking
yeahhhhhhh, finally received a call from dealer, it's here!!!! They are unpacking the bike from crate and should be ready this afternoon for pick up! Can't wait.......

You will love it! ;D
I called my dealer again this morning, and again "it should be here in a couple of days"
"ok, well if it actually does come in, don't sell it out from under me, i'm going camping for the next few days, I won't have cell coverage and i want the bike. i'm buying it. Hold it for me, you have my deposit."
"i'll make a note of that"
seriously, when i come out of the woods, i'd better have voicemail saying "come get your bike"
Got it got it!!! Couldn't be happier!! :) :)
Rode it home for 30 mins and spent another hour staring at it ;D
One thing I noticed... there is a "neutral zone" when switching from gear 5 to 6.... may be I didn't do it hard enough? ???

awesome, there is a "magic neutral". Look it up on your manual :)
what i don't get is this....
what's the point of the "list" if they don't ship the bikes on the "list?" i.e., i put a deposit down months ago so they've known they had a red sold. why do they bother shipping all the others before the ones on the dealers' lists?

I'm soooooo with you on that!!!!!!!!!!!!
My dealer called me a couple of weeks ago to ask me if I wanted the white instead of the red! [bang] Now that's a teaser!

I have the same thing swithching from 5 to 6 as well, kinda zings the motor if your still on it hard. Positive, firm shift required here. Took the wife on it the other day, a bit uncomfotable for her but she loved it.
