AMS is having their annual Sunday track day November 6th. Price is $200 for the all-day event. Three levels for all skill levels; novice, intermediate, and expert. The day starts around 9 and wraps up around 5 with a one hour lunch break in the middle.
This is usually my only track day of the year and in year's past it has always been great. It is a very well run event with good instruction and even better camaraderie.
I plan on going, anyone else? [Dolph]
And here's a link to the AMS description:

im really debating on going. I would really like to try a track day but then again that money could go toward the cyclecat rearsets ive been saving for
Oh, Cher, you are SUCH the little temptress [evil] ;D
[Dolph] [Dolph] [Dolph]
There is also a private day this Thursday, more $$ though, and Eurosport is having one on Monday 11/14. I'm working on the 11/6 weekend, but thinking about the 11/14 day.
Sure wish I could go. These things are a blast! [thumbsup] [Dolph]

... but thinking about the 11/14 day.
Good, a few more days for the 'fit back into the leathers crash diet/fast' :-X
what all do i have to do to my bike for a track day?
For AMS and most of the other novice events basically:
- no leaks
- decent tires
- working brakes
- chain/sprockets ok
- taped or removed lights
- removed mirrors
You bike is in great shape, probably just taping/removing lights and mirrors and you should be good to go [thumbsup]
The eurosport track day on 11/14 is $150 for those that can make it.
well i think im going to go then. i ordered frame sliders and barends last night. Then this weekend i guess ill have to find a shop to stich a different zipper to my jacket so they can be zipped to my pants
Cool. I'm going to ride to the track and tape up my bike once I get there. Should be a fun day for sure [Dolph]
When I was over at AMS on Friday, Amy mentioned that this trackday was not very full so if you've wanted to do a track day but were hesitant because of too many riders on track, this should be the track day for you.
(Yes, that IS the positive spin... ;D And now, for something completely different...)
C'mon, y'all, let's do the AMS track day this Sunday (so they don't cancel it). It'll be AWESOME [Dolph]
How was it? I worked today anyway.
It's a week from now :)

So what does that have to do with anything :P
Loaded the bike on the trailer (and really hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow) [bang] [laugh]
And this time I'm taking a camera... you never know what kind of cool bikes turn up for track days. A Desmo here, a Desmo there :o Yeah, baby, gonna be an awesome day, WOO-HOO!
well i made payment today for the track day. any one know what time to be there? i paid online do i need to bring my order number with or anything?
They usually start checking people in adn tech for the bikes around 8-8:30. You will have a great time [Dolph]
Well, I crashed at the track day yesterday. The bike is torn up and I seem to have broken my scaphoid bone in my right wrist and a metatarcile bone at the base of my right index finger. Will probably need surgery and a few screws to get it all back working properly; I won't know for sure until I meet with an orthopedic surgeon later this week. I've got some miscellaneous bruising here and there, ligament damage in my neck and back, and stiffness pretty much everywhere else just to round out the list, D-Oh!
But I will say my leathers and helmet did their job; two chunks out of the top of my Bayliss replica helmet... Prolly just good for potting plants now, dammit [bang]
Oh well, I'm out for three months while the wrist and hand heal up. I haven't even looked at the bike yet but I think it has seen better days :'(
Thanks very much to Tyler, RichD, Amy, Andy, Jordan and Derrick who stayed around at the track until we could come and get the bike; y'all are awesome and we really appreciate your help [thumbsup]
glad you are okay!!! but damn people will do anything to get out of helping someone move. [laugh]
Damn...Heal quickly Lisa!
Heal quickly
Crap!! [bang] Sorry to hear about this Lisa. Hopefully they gave you some good pain meds. Hopefully it goes without saying, but if there's anything you need help with, speak up.
How'd it happen?
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! :o
Hoping you have speedy recovery!
damn... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Speedy recovery Lisa!!!
Let me guess.......Coming out a corner doing a power wheelie, while crossed up, with one hand on the throttle and the other giving the "hang-ten" sign, or something like that?

HA, something like that! [laugh]
Thanks for all the well wishes, I appreciate it. As far as what happened, I turned in too early at the apex of one of the faster corners on track and just basically ran out of road on the exit of the corner. Once I saw I wasn't going to be able to keep it on the track, I stood up the bike, braked hard on the asphalt and aimed for what looked like smooth-ish grass off-track then let off the brakes...
One ginormous trench later, and the handle bars hit full lock on the right, I go over the top, and the bike slams down hard on it's left-hand side. I land on the top of my head then smack down on my left hip and elbow. Face shield gone, glasses gone and I've got a facefull of dirt for all my trouble! [bang] Thanks for shoppin'
Track days - you gotta luv 'em [roll]
I've been going over my bike trying to see what needs replacing. And, as is my custom (!), I've provided a pix or two for your dining enjoyment. Unfortunately, the parts list is pretty damn long.

Fully floating oil radiator [bang]
Most normal people would probably just part out the bike. However... I think I might try and get it back on the road. Seems like a decent winter project. Now all I have to do is the friggin' cast of my wrist and I'll be good to go.
On the bright side, sounds like the makings of a streetfighter project. Less is more [evil]
Sorry to hear all this Lisa, I hope you recover quickly.
The brackets on the oil cooler are aluminum, yes?
...I'd be willing to weld it back together if that's what you want to do. [thumbsup]

Thanks I'll prolly take you up on that.
Hope you get well soon! It was you to see you out of the hospital the same day. Well those fairing will make some good artwork to hang in the garage

Very sorry to hear about your wreck! Plus you messed up my favorite bike :'(
This has sure been a bad year for our group ???
Since Lisa will be on a restricted workload for a while, Sam and I decided to split up the chores.
Sam: dinner, laundry, dishes
Alan: keep the battery on the Daytona at full charge
It's the least I can do. And I always do the least I can do. [cheeky]

My bet is Alan will be continuing to teach Sam how to cook. Necessity is the mother.... [laugh]
Somehow I think the least you can do wont be enough over the next good while [evil]

just a brief update: i've got an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon this coming tuesday. will find out if surgery is needed for my right hand. if surgery is not needed, my wrist will be in a cast for 3 weeks. if surgery is needed, i'll be in a cast for two weeks [roll]
still stiff and a bit dizzy now and then but i'm getting plenty of rest so i'm hoping to be mobil-ish by next week.
Thanks very much for all the get-well-soons. Y'all are the best [thumbsup]
Glad you are ok without major injuries after the tumble Lisa. Heal up quick and I vote for the streetfighter project. [thumbsup]
Take it easy Lisa. Heal up and get well [thumbsup]

Wishing a speedy recovery to you, Lisa. I'm here if you should need anything.
well did you go to the doctor today?? what did they say?
Yeah, got back late in the day so I didn't post. The scaphoid fracture is healing OK but the metatarcle (long bone in the palm that connects the index finger at the knuckle to the scaphoid bone at the wrist) had moved out of proper alignment since it was set in the ER ten days ago.
Long story short, my hip doesn't hurt anymore...
I've got a new 3,000 pound cast and a newly reset metatarcle. I'll go back in another week for some x-rays to see if the bone is cooperating. If not, surgery and a few pins.
