I can't express what exactly Super Sic meant to me. I'm about his size (a little slimmer) and being that big really lends itself to riding a sport bike a certain way. That's how I first got into him as a racer in Moto2. Over the years, he has been such an inspiration for me, his riding, his life, his attitude, everything...
I was watching the race live with my GF and she just kept saying "I'm so sorry, I know how much you liked him." I was in shock for a few days and to be honest I'm still mourning. Every single person I know who met him said what a wonderful awesome person he was and how much FUN he was! I have heard stories of Sic and Vale drinking my friends under the table the just before GP weekends. What an awesome awesome character.
I wanted to do something to commemorate Sic, without making it morbid or depressing. If I have something on my bike I want it to make me happy and inspired to ride (like Super Sic).
So... Ciao Sic! I'll hang my leg out in the next braking zone for ya, you maniac!
My buddy Colin and I are going to make some of these. $5/ea. or I dunno, some discount if you buy more? Anyways we're going to donate $2 of every sticker to the Air Fence Fund since they are 'local' to the US, could use the help, and keep racers safe on our tracks.
Website: http://actionfund.roadracingworld.com/ (http://actionfund.roadracingworld.com/)
The stickers are going to be either 4 inches wide and we wanted to keep it pretty simple.... something people wouldn't mind putting on their bike or car or tool chest or fridge or what ever... Nothing with halos or morbid "death" shit... just something about how awesome this maniac was. Stickers will be white for now since that goes best with everything and is subtle.
***UPDATED*** Tweaked design coming.... taking some feedback into consideration and will update again. Took out paypal info because I want to make sure you like it before you send money (I know that's not REALLY the point here).

very cool. and a little hendrix'y =)
...at the risk of being pedantic, he was never in Moto2.
Just paypal you?

Also, I should talk to forum admins before taking 'orders', I don't want to make it seem like I'm a vendor or sponsor, etc etc.
For now, just post in here if you have any interest and we'll go from there.
[thumbsup]
Definitely interested.

ditto! [thumbsup] Was hoping a forum member would do something in a decal form with #58, maybe name or pic, etc.

+1
He never raced in moto2, and tbh this seems a little scammy. We're just handing you 3 bucks a pop off someone's death for some cheap knocked up stickers. Easy money eh?

$5.00 per sticker
$2.00 donated to the air fence fund
$0.44 postage
that leaves $2.56 per sticker to cover time, materials, wear and tear on equipment, fuel/travel costs to the post office.
...or i suppose you could always make your own sticker.
Oh I dunno Derby...I have always found it easier to judge someone's intentions and assume the worst. [laugh]
Jester, the guy will end up making very little if any money on something like this.
When I had access to a print shop with the ability to make simple stickers, I was still paying around half that $5 on materials and equipment time just to do simple things like the tribu del chiuahua visor stickers.
It is easy to judge someone's intentions after they have done something wrong, but until this guy actually scams someone here or screws them over, let's reserve judgement and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Also, when chatting with friends, I still say things like "back when Moto2 ran 250 2strokes...". Fact is Moto2 has been a far more descriptive name for the class than "250s" ever was.

How true that is. There's a sticker on a UK eBay store that's pretty "sic" with an actually #58 bike and rider.

You don't have to hand me anything. Derby pretty much summed it up and I'm all ears if you want to refer me somewhere to get it done super cheap.
Im going to post my final artwork as well as picture of the actual sticker and you can make up your mind if you want to contribute or not.
I'm certainly not scamming anyone and the numerous forum members who have met me and/or ridden with me will attest to that.
I appreciate the slander though... quite presumptuous of you, no? In the end I'll have something to the order of $.60-.70 per sticker not going into the donation, postage, or production. If you'd like to paypal me $4.30 instead and add the 3.5% to cover paypal fees and tell me how close it comes to $5.00, by all means be my guest. Then tell me how I'm scamming anyone and making big profit.

you didnt pay yet. You have to pay to see it. Then pay again if you want it in sticker form.
A real scammer, he is.

Side topic, but I don't get why Moto2 is a better, more descriptive name for the class? Yeah, it's Moto2 now because that's what the bikes are... Moto2 bikes. "250" was a damn good name for the class because they were 250cc bikes. It's an apple and oranges thing. Moto3 will be appropriate because they aren't 125cc GP bikes anymore after this year. Maybe I'm just missing the whole point. Wouldn't be the first time. ;D

in actuality, "moto 2" (and "moto 3") are
less descriptive names. they're "catch all" names that leave the organizers open to changing the underlying formula without being "boxed in" by a name that directly reflects something likely to be changed by the regulations, like engine displacement.

Not worth it. I had some long explanation typed out but then I realized, I simply don't give a shit as people are just trying to be douchebags in someone else's thread.
If we want to discuss the reasoning behind FIM and Dorna naming Moto2/Moto3 how they did, then someone can start a new thread for it. Otherwise, let this thread return to its original intention of paying homage to Simoncelli.

put the whole thought here...
Not being a douchebag, just asking a quick side bar question. No biggie. I've been a douchebag before and it didn't feel like this. [laugh]
Back to Super Sic. [thumbsup]
Peeks in the door....

Doing great! [thumbsup]

derby/update:
Maybe the Moto2/250cc Nazi Police will come around and claim I'm trying to rip people off, but I figured I'd do something that would help bike racers and memorialize my favorite lunatic out there (in 250cc and MotoGP).
So here's the deal if you guys want:
Colin and I are going to make some of these. $5/pair. We're going to donate $2 of every sale to the Air Fence Fund since they are 'local' to the US, could use the help, and keep racers safe on our tracks.
