I love Ducati, but I couldn't pass this deal up. ;D
Outstanding Jonesy!! I love Speed Triples! And how cool that you got one the same Kawi green as my ZRX1200!! Will we be seeing you and the new sled on Sunday?? Hope so! [moto]
Nice looking bike.
Glad to see you got it pretty quick

Thanks guys. Going on the Muenster ride is tempting but I have only 19 miles on the engine and need to get in a few more heat cycles/oil changes on the engine before I ride with you loonies! The bike was built back in 11/06 and was probably started a few times somewhere in there. I need to get that oil out of there pronto.
And yes Mr. Kraut, red is a fast color but this roulett green is going to be a beast! [clap]
Green cool. Red not.
Screw it Doug, jeez, breaking that puppy in with us is like a Godsend. '06 oil or not, it's not like that Arabian crude has broken down in two years. You are required, just like 1niceputt and others to show up or else. I see major bad karma in your future if you don't show. Is there a better way to break in that British beauty than with us on Sunday. It's not like you have to go 140 the whole time. Just cruise and break that baby in. [moto] It's required dude!

You're nuts.
I bought a leftover 955 too.
The dealer weenie told me to take it easy on it "because the cam bearings on those bikes are really tight at first..."
Yeah, thanks weenie.
I did 110MPH+ the whole way home for over three hours, across the desert. Only stops: GAS.
Beat it. Wring it. Kick it like the neighbors dog (I actually do not condone kicking dogs, but you get the point).
The only thing you stand to hurt is yourself. [thumbsup]
[moto]
P.S. I have Mucho Mucho miles on it now 20,000+/- miles worth.
No shims needed on the valves.
No nothin' needed Xcept oil changes (and the occasional lever and paint -DOH! ;D )
Nice ride and congrat's [thumbsup]
Just before I read this post, a saw dude on a Speed Trip ride by...must be good Karma. [moto]
Enjoy
wring it out and polish it later! [thumbsup]
I really like those. They look like a blast to ride around town. Mind if I ride it around the block sometime? Nice score! [thumbsup]
That looks great! Love the green and the gold. Let us know how she wheelies!
Doug, congrats! That is awesome ;D
Love the color & the dual headlights [thumbsup] [moto]
Way to go Doug - nice ride! :o

Yeah I know, I'll catch ya'll next time. I changed the oil at 23 miles... looked like metallic paint. It was so thick you couldn't see through it.

You're nuts.
Not really. I like putting a new motor through loads cycles by applying the gas on semi-hard through the power band with a long decel to load the rings. Gas on, gas off, over and over and over with zero constant throttle on a highway. That with fresh oil changes at 100, 200 then 500. A mechanic explained this to me years ago and I have done this on my last four new bikes and they ran perfect one the rings sealed in. Here's an interesting article on the subject: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
Ok, what's with all the name changes? I can't keep track of who is who.
The engines need oil?
Nice bike. I was always a fan of the mean green. Had a '79 toyota celica GT in the same color for my first 'hand me down' car. Nice memories. Thanks,
Steve

I asked the mechanic at AMS how I should break in my Duc and he said, "Hard. Break it in like you plan to ride it."
Doug,
What's this crap I heard on Sunday that you totaled the Monster?? What's up with that? I totally missed that post. Damn, happy that you are OK but sorry for the bike. Bummer. Someone said you hit a Grand Canyon sized pothole in McKinney... is that right? Twisted and banged up the rear of the scooter? Again, glad you're good to go and have a sweet new ride. I thought you were just adding to the stable. Missed you on the ride yesterday. Make the next one or else!

As much as I would like to be you (or
N2L, N2F or Cher ) and have a garage full of bikes, (or just two) it just isn’t happening. But the check from Allstate Insurance was very good. I was knocking around RPM Cycle one day... they had the '07... I had the cash... and they just kept on twisting and twisting my arm until I gave in.
Here's the pics of the Grand Canyon vacation: http://douglasjonesdesign.com/deadduc.html
Holy shit. Busted the motor mounts... don't see that very often. How much over a 100 were you going? [laugh] All kidding aside it's still a bummer and a half. That was a really sweet S2R1K. Did you strip the good stuff to resale before they took it away? Still, a happy ending after all. Love the green Speed Trip! [moto] Saw one today (not green) on NW Hwy that had high mount Arrows. I believe Trumpet recently made a "limited" edition black one with neat carbon bits and a low mount Arrow that looked really cool in the mag pics. Seen one of those? Think there was maybe a 100, hmm, maybe 200. Not sure.
The big question is: what aluminum part gets polished to perfection first? We should have a contest to see who gets it right!! ;D Can't wait to see her in real life!
Yeah, I saw that limited edition also. very trick...

Yes, I pulled the full exhaust, tail chop kit and the DP airbox cover/filter. Which brings up a question. What is the rate of depreciation for used parts? I'm going to put these parts up for sales and have no idea what to ask. For example, I paid $1,100 for the exhaust new but not sure what to ask for it.
Don't know brother. Good question for the general forum board. Of course you may get some "ringer" answers but I am sure you can cull those out.
