Title: I bought a Ducati box lot
Post by: setha on November 30, 2011, 08:09:29 PM
My wife and I where looking for a winter project and we found it.... a 2001 and a 1999 Ducati monster both front end wrecks and a 2002 frame. We are in the process of sorting good parts from bad and seeing whats missing. So far we know we have no keys, one ingniter box, alot of wrenching and alot of parts hunting to do this winter. I hope to set up a photo buck or like account to post a pict of what we now affectionately refer to as our Italian junk yard. Wish us luck!!!

Hola, I obviously saw your post about the lock.

So, you've got a big project - you might post up a thread in tech to document the rebuild. You'll get some helpful, inquisitive followers on a build like that.

It'll also help you sort out what you can use from what. You've got bikes that span a few progressive steps. 2001 and 2002 will have a different rear suspension than the 99. And depending on what engines they have, they maybe carby or injected. Other stuff like axle sizes can change, rear caliper placement etc etc.

So I'd like to hear what you've got, and *the plan*

oh, and welcome

Here is a picture the morning after we got back. We got home late and left all the new goodies on the trailer so we could sort them in the morning.

I like the idea sad panda and I think you will be seeing a thread soon!! In what section do you recommend I put the thread?

Oh my... that's even more part-y than I'd imagine. I thought there might be something that at least resembled a bike in there.

As far as places - you might start off in Tech with an ID thread. Posting pix of parts you unsure of and geeting some more deets on the models you have and cross compatibility.

Once you've got a build plan then... maybe General? There's been a build threads all over. Drunken Monkey complied a list a while back

- that should give you some guidance and worse yet, IDEAS!

About the only thing in there that looks like a bike is the wheel, rest looks like stuff in a trailer...love to see how this turns out. Keep us posted and welcome.
