Saw a deal once where two brothers regifted each other the same pair of leather pants over and over.  One brother finally won when he put the pants in the glove compartment of an old car and had it compacted into a cube and delivered to his sibling.

A chopsaw and a welder hardly constitutes a machine shop.

Or are you talking about the gift recipient?

All he needs to open it is a grinder and some patience.

It looked like you could pull the two parts apart, the reason the squares were welded on the end to give you something to pull with.
