First was just stupid.
I think I did a no no and grabbed a bunch of front brake
FallNumber01.wmv (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPL7Os5T-yk&feature=youtu.be#)
The second kinda sucked, fell on a patch of ice
Broke the end of the shift lever and got a little scratch on my leg.
Was able to ride it the 30 some miles home by operating what remained of the shift lever with the heel of my boot.

Nice [thumbsup]
I've experienced the second version a few times :)
lucky to ride away from the second one. Looks like that one might have hurt.

For better or worse, I'm somehow more durable than I look
Actually had it been bad, I would've been screwed. That's way out in the middle of nowhere, I doubt I had a cellphone signal and who knows when someone would come along.
Glad you're ok. Tricky stuff.
Black ice, experienced it once or twice ever down here.

i think the fact that you were riding dirt roads made the fall a little cushier :)

it was soft ice
soft ice still hurts (at least the ego)
glad to here your ok
ok, 2 falls one day = more experience and fun stories to tell when drinking beer
I've done that too. Did a wheelie on a dirt road on a YZ465 at about 40 or 50, rear wheel hit the ice and went sideways out from under me, I think I grunted just like you did in that second video. I hate that sh!t. I just don't bounce as well as I used to 20 or 30 years ago riding dirt bikes. I don't have a dirt bike right at the moment, I traded my last YZ450F about 8 months ago, but I'll probably get a KTM or something one of these days again, after a while, the pain memories fade, and I get the itch again.

It pleases me that I say apparently quotable things in times of crisis too.
Hint: park the bike during the winter. ;)

it was in the high 50's out, how could I not go out. Being below freezing the night before and single digits just a few days ago is what hurt me. Stupid permafrost!

see, even if dp says it rains too much here, you can actually ride all year long ... no permafrost, just giant bugs or lots of water ...

no, it's pretty smooth
It's more of slightly different colored rubber in the shape of tread blocks than actual raised blocks of rubber

I do recall saying something like "You've got to be kidding me!" but don't remember yodeling.
I will make it a point to yodel whenever appropriate from now on though.

2:04 on this one...it sounded involuntary a half whimper/half yodel...
at the same time it looked like the bike was turning back into the equivalent of a garbage bag full of live eels underneath you
