Was just reading this thread - http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=48137.msg1010718#new (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=48137.msg1010718#new)
and noticed the Ryco Z315 is a cross match for the Ducati oil filter. Anyone been game enough to try one out yet? Would be nice to not have to fork out $30 for OEM.
It has been spoken about before, maybe not in a dedicated thread but still discussed.
Personally I have not used one and I don't know what they cost compared to an OEM.
My bike has usually had the K&N filter which is a bit cheaper than OEM but what's $10 or so each you change oil for the best protection for your bike.
Personally I dislike the OEM , I found they leak unless cranked in really hard , then they are a shit to remove.
K & N have a nice nut built into the base of the filter for easy removal .
My 2 Cents
The Ryco filters have updated and the new number is Z93. My list in that other thread is old.
Someone check it out and report for me?
thanks mates! [thumbsup]
Yeh the K&N are good but still up there in price. Whats a ryco filter, about $10? Its not just the price it is the fact you just go to the local auto store to get one instead of having to source them from a dealer or the internet. I have the day off today so might wander into auto bahn or SCA to see if they stock em and what they cost. Still let us know if you have given one a go on your bike.
Not long ago I was looking at these as an option...... still not decided

But your looking at quite a few oil filter changes before your get your dollars back.
Still there is some bling factor (if your that Way inclined [thumbsup]), and a magnetised pre filter is something your standard filters dont have.
If memory serves me , on the main board someone posted up info about flow rates of filters.
Something to consider about the purchase you make wether the resistance of the filter medium is
compatible to the Ducati L twin motors requirement .
A Ryco Z93 is $35 (yeh I know WTF?!) at Auto Bahn and they have to order it in. Comes up as a Honda motorcycle filter on their computer.

Are you sure it is Z93. Just looked in another thread and you said it comes up as a Z128?
http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=50597.msg928529#msg928529 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=50597.msg928529#msg928529)
In the Baldwin cross reference catalogue (http://www.baldwinfilter.com/literature/AUS/Aust_Cross_Ref.pdf (http://www.baldwinfilter.com/literature/AUS/Aust_Cross_Ref.pdf)) that Ducatiz is refering to in the other thread (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=50597.15 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=50597.15)), both Z128 and Z93 are listed as being replaced by Baldwins B7292, which is apparently a direct Ducati replacement.
Also FYI the Baldwin 2007 recommended wholesale price lists the B7292 at AUD$9.64ea + gst.

i can only go by what's published. the Z315 filter doesn't exist anymore and the Z128 doesn't appear in their catalogue, but the Z93 does and it has the correct specs.
Ok cheers guys.
z93 $30.10 at bursons.
ducati 44440035a $21.94 at btbb
k&n $19.95 rrp
that's ridiculous!
do you guys get the HiFlo filters? We get them for about US$7 each in a case or about 12 each
they must put pixie dust in them!

I get all my car stuff from Bursons. They are great.
And I have only run the Ducati OEM or the K&N's. K&N's from OS for about $15.00 ea + shipping. I would rather get them locally and >$20.00 sounds ok. Might try to get the HiFlo's next time.
Does anybody know where in Brisbane I can get the K&N's or hi flows?

I just ordered 3 for $27 off of eBay. Even with the $20 or so dollars postage it works out cheaper than buying filters here.

I found a local supplier (Brisbane air cleaner services) for the Baldwin filter B7292 - $16.15 inc gst and currently in stock.
I get K&N from my local bike shop Great Divide Motorcycles Warrego Highway Hattonvale.

I am a total sucker for this type of advertizing blurb, does anyone know of any disadvantages with these filters and are they even half as good as they claim ? (gee wiz, they even help keep your engine cool ! ! ! )
I always wanted to try one if those fancy filters on my car.. I gotta find one..

They are great but at $150, that is about 3-4 years of oil changes before you make your money back.
Of course, the filter being permanent means you can continue to use it on any subsequent bike you own.
It all depends on how many K,s you do but with what we pay for filters here it wouldn't take that long to pay for itself. Anyone in Sydney interested in a group buy ? Quick, while the dollars up.
We are thinking about it rendang
