Sorry about my wording. Poll is to vote between 1 and 2 below. Both are priced to sell at $12.5k.
1. 2011 848 EVO (like new with 2k miles) or
2. 2009 1198S (normal wear and tear with 7k miles)
1
2
2.... youd probably want to get the larger one eventually anyhow...
1198 S
2
1 unless you you plan to track it
boobies
boobies, because you really can't go wrong with 1 or 2...but Boobies will always win in the end!
1
1
(but I'm a sucker for middleweight bikes)
2.............boobies
#2. no replacement for displacement
live my dream.
2.
2, you'll eventually want more hp + DTC + full ohlins + forged rims + random cf bling. but keep in mind that the 1198S will be 1k more expensive due to the service coming up in 500 miles. but still a better choice than the 848 though, you're getting a lot more for the money.
1198S
Go big or stay at home. S? Yes.
1198S
One question. Where are you planning on using it? I NEVER see riders using all their bikes, so BS on the displacement argument. Unless you really love long straights or highway runs.
The 748 I had was FAR more engaging than the 996. And the higher revving wail was icing on the cake.
848 with some tasty mods would be a fantastic bike.

i agree with this, but i think the S coming fully kitted out makes it the best value for money. offhand i think it's something like 4-5k extra to get the ohlins/rims and then another 2k for aftermarket traction control. plus, since the 1198 already depreciated a good amount, when it's time to get a new bike the hit from selling wont be as bad.
