So I picked up my bike from the Ex's place today, and low-sided less than one hundred yards from her house.

It didn't occur to me that after sitting for six months, there might be some build-up on the tires. The first turn I made, the back end washed out from underneath me...
Damage was minimal and mainly cosmetic. The frame sliders did their job, so there's not a scratch on the tank, frame, or exhausts. The clutch lever is a little worn down, same for the left side handle bar end, and the shifter got a little love as well. The only part that needs to be replaced is the right side mirror, as my arm caught it and pulled it off as the bike slid out from under me.
My leather jacket has a few scratches, but nothing that a sharpie won't fix... I rode the rest of the way home without incident. I already ordered the new mirror, but I'll probably start modding the bike again in a couple of months... there's a few things that I still want to do with it.
The only damage I sustained was a blow to my ego... Oh well, at least I got my crash for 2012 out of the way. FML [roll]
If she didn't see it and you weren't hurt - all is well [thumbsup]
Good luck with the mods!
Maybe she rubbed crisco all over the tire. ;)
At least you were able to ride away.

This is what I came to post :P
Eh, atleast you got your bike. Now she just has some character.
glad the only thing that got hurt was your ego :) [Dolph]
See that the other way ... that's how I started crazy mods =) [drink]
Be safe !
Glad to hear there is no major damage to you or your bike.
Ego hurt? Shouldn't be when you compare a minor spill against successfully completing your tour of duty.
Off in to the distance, stands an ex holding a bottle of armor all giggling.

Part of the divorce paperwork was that she had to keep my stuff maintained until I got back... That includes keeping my bike in operational condition. She would run it for me at least once a month, as well as lube the chain... After the accident, I inspected the tires and noticed an amount of chain lube on the sidewall of the rear tire... She doesn't know enough about bikes for it to have been intentional, but she probably got careless with the can of lube, and some of the tire got sprayed as a result.

TMI!
Dropped the bike off at the dealership yesterday to get the mirror installed as well as a complete checkup and service. They're even going to hold the bike for me while I'm out of town for the next couple of weeks so I don't have to worry about it sitting unsupervised outside my apartment while I'm on vacation.
Great dealership and customer service!!! [thumbsup]
Oh... finally got to see the Diavel in person... Love it! [drool]

Ahem, if those scratches were on the bike, yeah I'd fix em. But on the jacket, they ad character. They say that you really ride the thing. Battle scars, don't hide em. [beer] [clap]
