I just recently bought a 2000 m750 and I am looking to make it a little louder or more robust. I've heard of gutting the stock pipes to do just that, but I am weary of that. Would running straight pipes be bad for my bike? If these two ideas are bad ones, what aftermarket brands should I look into? Thanks
Hi, I'm assuming you have the stock low mount exhausts. Take a look at this tutorial for chopping them and making them a little louder.

If you can muster up the tools, it doesn't seem so bad. I think straight pipes are obnoxiously loud but other board members would know better if that's harmful for the bike or not. As for aftermarket brands, look up Danmoto, Leo Vince, Marving, Sil Moto, etc. Many of the sponsors on this website carry aftermarket pipes for the older monsters!
I just recently cored my low mounts. Follow the tutorial and take your time, it was not bad at all.
The sound is definitely louder and has more bass...it sounds great!
thanks for the advice guys! very much appreciated [thumbsup]

It is a very simple mod...and is well worth time and effort!!
On my 98' M900 I literally cut my two cans down to 11'' reinstalled the cap, and couldn't be happier with sound!!
I have a 2001 M750 the ONLY way to go is REMUS highmounts....you wont regret it...its deep and throaty...sounds more like a 1098 wrapping out then a 750... [thumbsup]
SkyShadow is actually selling a set of them in the "parts for sale" area...They are Remus grand prix high mounts...650 is a good price for them...and they look clean...you should think about contacting him, check em out! [thumbsup]
Running straight headers is obnoxiously loud. On top of that, your bike will run like crap. The engine needs a certain amount of back-pressure to operate properly. If the exhaust is too free-flowing, you'll sacrifice performance.
The cans are only held on by one bolt. Take them off and see how you like it. It's easily reversed.
