Title: Howdy! Name's Tom.
Post by: Karnak on January 27, 2012, 12:45:10 PM
Nice to meet you all, please call me Tom (username is also fine).
Hailing from Hickam AFB, HI
I am a proud owner of a recently purchased 2009 Ducati 696  :D
Born and raised in the southern half of Delaware state.  I grew up riding my friend's old dirtbikes on trails through the woods, and backroads.
Figured it was about time I really started riding so I figured I'd buy a good machine and jump in with both feet.
I am still learning alot and am open to advice/mentoring.
My main reason for joining this forum was to get insight from experienced riders/mechanics on quality parts/maintenance techniques, for when it comes time to do upgrades/bodywork changes or repairs for myself.
As of now my bike is still completely stock.

Welcome!

You might want to try a 14T front sprocket for roads on the island. No really fast roads, right? Never been there, only Maui, but I'd sure like to try the Hana Highway on a newer Monster!  [thumbsup] How much is the ferry?  ;)

Stay safe!

Thanks for the quick response, I'm beginning to see this is a really active/informative board!
The 14T sounds like a great idea.  The traffic out here is pretty bad, and unless you are on the free way all the roads are slow like you say.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is no ferry! Damn environmentalists had that taken care of a while ago.  Now the only way to go inter-island is via Hawaiian Airlines.
But thanks again for the recommendation will definately look into that sprocket when time/money permits

Staggering! [thumbsdown]

Airplanes with no roof are cleaner?! Are they afraid of hitting whales?!!!

As you're at Hickham, make friends with a LPD captain; maybe they'll need to exercise an LCAC and stay for lunch and dinner while you ride?  [roll]

If it's that slow, get a 14T tomorrow!

Rubber side down!
