Why is that?
Is it because you think hybrids can't be performance oriented? I bet Porsche, Infiniti, Lexus & others would disagree with you.
Have you driven a hybrid lately?

Well, as a hybrid it will probably cost substantially more than if it were straight gas, for one.....

the porsche hybrids only cost about $4k more than their gas-only counterparts... for cars in the $70-100k price range, that's a negligible amount.
Don't own a hybrid or electric but don't fear the eventuality of it at all, especially if the fun factor is kept as an important ingredient. [thumbsup]

Maybe true, but I remain to be unimpressed until the cost of hybrids over straight gas engines becomes negligible on vehicles mere mortals can afford. We're not there yet.....

Let's take a look at fastest cars in the world..
1. Koenigsegg Agera R (not a hybrid)
2. Veyron SS (not a hybrid)
3. Hennessy Venom GT (not a hybrid)
4. Pruis.. (hybrid)
Sorry I'm not seeing how hybrids are performance oriented.

First of all, this thread is about the upcoming NSX, which IS A HYBRID.
Secondly...this 199mph beast is a hybrid as well.

Nice left coast views about other peoples' money ;D
I've got over $110k sunk into 2 vehicles, and $4k still matters to me. I'd hardly call it negligible.
There's all sorts of good performance stuff going on with hybrid concepts right now. For instance:
Jaguar CX75:

195hp electric motor at each wheel. Two small gas-powered TURBINE ENGINES that can either charge the battery or power the wheels directly, a la Chevy Volt.
Okay, okay. So it's just a concept at this point.
How's about a diesel/electric hybrid that's actually in the works?

As for the Acura, I think it looks good, hybrid or not. I'd like to see The Stig put them through their paces side-by-side, but I kinda doubt that'll happen.

yes, I'd absolutely pass on an opportunity to drive that
yeah right! [cheeky]
Oh, I would thrash that like the proverbial red-headed stepchild.....
Spotted the new NSX in white with black trim here in OC yesterday. [drool]
Too bad they're pushing 4000 pounds like everything else these days. Apparently Acura lost the design notes from the first NSX.
4000?!?
Yep, I recall reading somewhere recently that they'd be around 3800#.
If that's the case, major fail.
That's about 1000# too much
