Title: Panic Button install
Post by: FIFO on March 03, 2012, 01:46:03 AM
Got a phone call today from an acquaintance, who shall remain unnamed. Wobbart i need your help (again) grovell grovell [roll]
I want to fit a panic button on the MV, and i can't work out which side off the double sided tape is sticky :-\
You know I'm as useless as tits on a Bull with tools and things.
Oh and while your at it can you adjust the steering head bearings and fabricate a new number plate bracket. [roll]
(Note to self Don't buy an MV i think they use the rejected parts from Ducati.)
rear hub fails premature, steering head bearings go out of adjustment with the slightest knock.
And i had to destroy/modify a brand new titanium steering head tool from tpo,  to fit the MV which the holes weren't in the right place, and no talk about replacement. :'(

it's worth checking the large steering head insert nut (the thing with all the holes around the edges)  they're meant to be 100nm, often not much more than hand tight and i've seen a few loose enough to move.

Thanks Brad
Did that, was a tad loose. didn't have the service tool for that one, just a few taps with a punch and hammer  and a good guess at 100nm . [roll]

Geeze Rob,

You are a patient man, you must be some sort of saint putting up with people just dropping in like that and expecting things to be done ASAP, and for FREE no less.

I know some people just seem to buy junk with a shiny surface then it all starts to fall apart starting with the rear hub then some kind chap in a uniform lets this person know that his bafflers have fallen out, now its the front end? When will it end??

Anyway Rob I would just like to thank you for those very nice stickers you gave me, my son's are very jealous, here is a pic  of where they ended up.

Yer Mick .patient ain't the word more like sucker for punishment ???
Your lucky you live out in the sticks, or said person( ie Teff) would be on your door step every day. especially now he has seen that extensive tool collection you got there ;)
those stickers  look the goods, looks like they were made for that tool box [thumbsup]
I think you better invest in a Dymo and label the draws more professional like, Teff has the right idea in his adulterated pictures [laugh]
