Title: Planet Gazing
Post by: kopfjäger on March 05, 2012, 05:02:10 PM
Mars will be closest to the Earth tonight, so if you have a scope it's a good night to observe. Venus, Jupiter and Mercury are up in the west. Mars is below at about 7oclock from the Moon.

I have a scope (8-inch reflector) but the tripod doesn't work right so it's about useless.  I'd like to see that.

Been waiting for the camera mount for my 10inch scope. See so much cool shit I wish I could photograph.

They'll all be up tomorrow, you got to catch Mercury at dusk, she'll drop away fairly early. Mars is up all night.

Saw this before I went to work tonight. Venus was so bright it looked like a flashlight in the sky!

This. And had a VERY bright 3/4 moon on the opposite side of the sky. Haven't wanted that damned camera mount so bad as I did last night.
Tonight it is supposed to be clear and warm. I may just try my luck with the tri-pod and my 1200mm. But have yet to get a steady night shot due to the painfully slow shutter in that light.

All night long the clouds have looked as if it's early evening and the stars are almost non existent.

Saw it last night here. I took a nice picture but it was nothing like they showed in some areas on TV. It woulda been nice to see it closer to the horizon arcross the bay, but the clouds were blocking it...
