Title: Monster in Utah
Post by: klone on March 26, 2012, 11:08:27 AM
My name is Sam and I currently reside in Utah. I have been riding for a few years (about 4) on various machines. I have wanted a Monster for years, but started on the typical starter bikes (Honda Ruckus, Ninja, etc...) I was set on getting a new M796 and spent hours and hours on the forums finding out everything about it. Then I found a great deal on an M1100S  [evil]. It is a 2009 with about 4000 miles on it. It already had Termis, different pressure plate and clutch cover and a tail chop, which was a bonus. Other than that, I added bar ends and mirrors (the vibration was killing me, I could not tell if it was another bike behind me or a semi), I also added sliders. I didn't really feel the need for sliders, but I have this image of coming out of work with the bike tipped over, so I put them on. So, I picked that up instead and have been gaining what little experience I can on it for now.

I didn't want to post until I had some miles on the bike, I think I have a little over 500 miles now and they have been awesome. I love the 1100S, mostly for the adjustability and I am a sucker for the dry clutch. Living in Utah does not hurt, great roads and great canyons.

Here is a picture from the top of a canyon close to home, it was a nice day, so I had to get out of the house, and I figured it would be a good intro shot.

Hey Klone. I'm new to the forum too, and am in Utah also. I was trying to guess where you took the pic and I came up with the top of emigration canyon? With Little Dell reservoir behind?

It is emigration canyon, it was a nice day on Sunday, so I took it up there. Nice ride for early spring.

Awesome! That is a fun canyon. And just south, Parleys, would be a race track if it weren't for the heavy traffic. How did the road to East Canyon look from there? Do they usually close it?

Not sure about the rest of the road, up until the reservoir it is very nice, but beyond that I am not sure. I turned around there and went back down the canyon instead of 80. I think there was just a little water runoff and that was it.  [thumbsup]
