Title: CRG factory burns down in California Fire
Post by: Kaveh on June 24, 2008, 03:20:29 PM
***UPDATE***

From CRG's website: http://www.constructorsrg.com/
QuoteCRG Burns - But We're Already Back!

On Friday, June 20th, a fire burned through the rural valley where our fabrication shop was located. Our shop was destroyed.

While this is a big challenge, we want to let everyone know that we are already well into the process of getting our shop up and running again. It takes more than fire to slow us down!

We expect that by Monday, June 30th we will have five mills running, so we will continue to supply the finest parts to racers and enthusiasts. Thank you for your past and future support!

From another moto forum: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253550
QuoteThats right folks you read that right. Just got word that the wild fire in the area took out the building. So if you need CRG parts get them ASAP so you will get them period. I don't know the full extent of the damage but it didn't sound good.

This is a bummer for a lot of people. I hope this doesn't bugger up CRG for too long.
----------------------------------------
Oh make the beast with two backs, just realized that he was right off Larkin Valley Rd. Exactly where the fire was. I was up at his place a few years ago when he needed to fit prototypes to bikes (I got the first set made for the F4i).

That sucks, I'd hate to know how much money he lost in equipment alone. That shop was state of the art!

From what I understand it was a wildfire that took the factory along with a bunch of houses...

Definitely fishy..

ok. just kidding, but it sucks for them.

Surely they have business insurance and will be up in a while with better stuff.  All that stuff they make is CNC anyhow, so let's hope they backed up their hard drives

Well, it's just another sign that cars are truly evil [evil]... The cause of the Watsonville fire, that destroyed CRG... hold on to yer socks kids.... fire investigators determined it was started by car exhaust. >:(  Just saw it on the news.

The Pazzo-Mafioso is behind it!

That really sucks.  I like their stuff.  (Glad I don't need anything right now - except for the "start in gear" tab)

I gave Tigre a whole bag of mirror parts. You should see if he's got a spare.

...hopefully so. Not to mention all the work to set the CNC machines up and get the tooling right.

I was wondering why their web-store was down last week...

I just got a pair of levers over-nighted from Jeff@MonsterParts, along w/ some clip-ons.
Its being worked on right now. Anxious!

I think it was MotoWheels that told me they would be back in production within this week.
Also, their distributors should be able to get us what we need - my levers were shipped just after the fire.

'Mo Betta' that the 1st post is updated, or that the production of CRG products was only off line for a couple of weeks?  Maybe both  :)

Mo Betta for the update, and Mo Betta^11tyB that they're up and running.

Gettin' your business burned down is usually a lethal blow.

I just got my levers....RB-517 and RB-522, and I'm missing one of the push rod pivot pins......

and I have been calling them for over a make the beast with two backsing hour, I guess NOBODY can answer a damn phone there to take care of a customer. I'm guessing they are all at the MOTO GP and thats great but how about you update your answering machine to freaking say that.

SO aside from my rant can I use both levers on a Rs with only one CRG push rod pivot pin

Have you left them a message?

I imagine MotoGP is a pretty big deal for them, and their shop burned down just under 4 weeks ago... perhaps everything isn't running as smoothly as they'd like.

yeah I called em a few times, nobody ever bothered to answer the damn phone.....oh what else.

I was putting my Rs on its stand, and the bike tipped over. JOY OF JOYS!

Damage:
Scuffed bar end
scuffed mickey mouse mirror
snapped stock lever ( was replacing it anyway )
marks in my new clutch cover
bent the shit out of my rear brake lever

BUT I got off lucky, no damage to my termi's, tank or radiator....

I ended up cutting my now broken stock lever and took the stock part out that was captured in the lever.

I still need to take some slack out of the travel on the clutch side, the lever has too much travel for my liking before it actually engages the clutch.
