Put the bikini 696/1100 fairing on....I like it better than no fairing, but really wish it were RED!!
What do you guy's think?
I have the red S4SR Corse stripe on the way...we'll see how it looks. [Dolph]

i've always preferred topless myself,...but it still looks pretty good.
I think it looks better than it does on the 696/796/1100.
It looks 'ok' but not great - sorry [beer]

Agreed.... It looks much better on this bike than a 796. I took mine off the first week of owning and never put it back on.

It isn't there for looks..., but if you don't ride over 50..., you'll never notice. ;D

I cruise to and from work 13 mi....at about 55-65
and for me it is about the look. The bike with gauges exposed, looked unfinished to me.
Just found a red one on ebay...and it's in the mail. I do plan on tinting the screen.
Pics to come [thumbsup]

Looks clean
Not my cup of tea, i like em naked [thumbsup]
I think the S4R fairing will look even better.
My first preference is the original one.
Pretty cool...didnt know it would fit. IMO, it seem to be out of place with the whole old school theme of the bike. Have you consider the DP fairing? Not the S*R ones.

No, not really ...got a PIC
It's the old 97-99 fairing in carbon.
I like it alot.
This is mine a while ago...I have shorten the windscreen a bit.

There are at least two iterations of DP fairings for the old Monster (pre 2000).
My first Monster had that version purchased from the DP catalogue, but my current bike has the rounder more curved version used on the 98-99 M900 S and some '97-'99 bikes. Both DP ones are carbon.
I think your version can clear the clip on bars easier. They were worth a fortune in 1996!
The S4R fairing will be a good compromise, and the stripe is fine.

TOO FUNNY!! I just spoke with a friend and he has the DP 98'-99 in Carbon Fiber offering to sell to me.
But I would have to custom fit it & possibly cut it down in areas to make it work with my DP gauges & Cycle Cat triple clamp, no longer as attachment points for the brackets.

Is this black fairing a stock one you trimed down on the sides and screen?
Also it looks like you attached to the headlight bracket...correct?
I think the OP had the rounder one.

The S4R fairing fit ok? I think it captures some of the curved styling of the old oem fairing which matches the curves of the older tank and and seat cowl.
The latest one is too newfangled for me. (old fart smiley).

I removed mine over the winter; I can't say I notice a difference at speed, but it certainly looks better. :)

The fairing is carbon. I didn't trim the fairing itself, but just the screen (the glass looking part)
Yes the fairing mount at the headlight mounting screws.
