FP1 was a full wet, cold, crappy FP which saw some of the factory riders doing nothing, CRT riders actually putting in laps and everyone else doing a sighting lap or two and not much else.

Just noticed FP1/FP2 comparison...Ivan Silva was 14kph slower in FP1 than Dani in FP2 but still managed a 1:48.674 to Dani's 1:50.780. God I hope the race is in the wet...
we've all said it in the past...rain is the great equalizer....
Speaking of rain and jumping off topic a little bit, anyone see the WSS race from Assen? Lanzi was a make the beast with two backsIN' BEAST! I hope like hell that guy gets a ride for the rest of the season. Not bad to come out on a "not as competitive" bike in a one off appearance and not only finish a slippery sloppy race but to put it on the top of the box. [thumbsup]
Rain and cobras on the track. I would love to see a CRT on the podium. Anyway, the factory guys didn't do much either in FP2. The Yammies seem to have some issues. Lorenzo was not happy. I think they will continue to tip toe around the track even during qualifying. They will go out, set one fast lap and come back in.
F rain races.
Except for that one in 2009 for wsbk. Forget which track it was.

you talking about the one at Donnington that had the wild qualy from Kiyonari where he was slippin and sliding the Ten Kate Honda all over the place to make the pole?
What is the logic behind the tail light on the bikes?
Same as F1, AFAIK.
Supposedly makes the bike easier to see in the rain.

FP1 was more like a halfwet/dry track with light rain. The factories didn't go out due to low tire allocation and the fact they would wreck their tires in a few laps. Had any of them actually gone out for real work, I guarantee Silva wouldn't be topping charts. The CRT's have little data for electronics/rain setup and needed to run.

I'm am so make the beast with two backsing pumped that Nicky can still pull that shit out even though he is 8 tents off the pace. At least it shows that the Ducati can be ridden. Just not by Val.

Rossi 13th!? WTF!? Has he just given up? Dreaming of racing rally cars? I'm a big Rossi fan but I am at a loss at what to say. [roll] [bang] [popcorn]

It would be nice to see Spies next to him.
Kind of telling that Rossi no longer comments on what they can do to make the bike "better" but rather says what they can do to make the bike "less worse"
I think the guy has given up.
(((((((((((((((((((SPOILER QUALIFYING))))))))))))))
Rossi is a miserable 13th place qualifying, however, that is only 3.4 seconds off pole.
That's not the end of the world. Ya, 1,.......2,........3,..4. but still, not the end of the world.

The Ben in 11th? WTF?
I'm a big Spies fan but if doesn't get consistant decent/podium finshes I just don't see his contract getting renewed. Maybe he needs to go back to WSBK. Some folks just don't get MotoGP. And he was raised in the SBK world. Can't believe I am saying that but even after his WSBK championship I never seriously thought he would do it again in MotoGP. No more than I thought Colin Edwards would do it.
Does that make me bad? [laugh]

Tires... yes. The soft front went south.
That was a hell of a ride by Stoner. I think he served notice by taking J Lo on his home turf, with the full complement of douches in the stands, and on a track that favors the Yamaha over the Honda. The longest straight is about as long as the average driveway.
Great racing early on. I didn't expect Crutchlow to be as good as he is.
Cal is doing a damn good job so far! [popcorn] Looking forward to some podiums for him. [thumbsup]
3/5 top 5 bike 2 "non factory", pretty impressive IMO.
Crap move by crutchlow on Nicky in first lap or 2.
M
A good race. [clap]
Banging handlebar action at the start, and riding on the edge of worn tyres at the end.
Pity Nicky's tyres went off so suddenly, it looked a big drop in a short time. Nicky has adapted better than you know who.
Very impressed with Casey and Jorges riding on the edge with worn tyres, real high pressure racing. Both had moments when the other could have won. I thought Jorge had him as the Yamaha looked more stable, but Casey rode the wheels off the Honda despite it being all out of shape.
Going back to 1000cc was a good idea.

There was a lot of that going on today
My favorite was when Crutchlow, Dovi, and Hayden all stuffed it straight past Pedrosa all in one turn [evil]
It was a shame to see Pedro blow past Nicky down the straight though
And I don't care what anybody says. Nicky had a make the beast with two backsing fantastic weekend. He rode the piss outta' that donkey dick bike he has and deserves some credit for being so persistent. He didn't look very happy right after the race and rightfully so..

Oh, unless Ben starts performing, I'd fully expect that.
I really thought the big bikes would suit Ben, so I don't understand it.
Doohan was commentating down here and said Crutchlow is a real character and very marketable in Britain. He noted him as a real threat to Ben's position. Even Doohan couldn't understand Ben's results.
I think Rossi is done. I doubt we'll see him win another race in straight up conditions, and he may never get another podium without help.
Hayden looked fantastic early...shame to see him fade.
Cal has really turned it around this year. If he keeps it up I think Ben is in trouble, unless he turns it around...which I don't see.
Stoner was awesome, as was JLo. Too bad JLo couldn't mount a last lap charge.
Good race overall though! [thumbsup]
I was also pleased with the Moto2 race....though I think if it had not been spitting...Redding would have been a clear choice for the podium/win with Marquez chasing him...it was just nutz to watch him slide and square off the turns they way he was...made me think Marquez was going to make a bad situation by trying to stuff it up the inside of him in one of those turns when doing that...
I was also really happy to see Nicky fight at the beginning like that...tis a shame that the soft tire just gave up the way it did as fast as it did...it gave me a glimmer of hope that maybe Ducati have taken the steps in the right direction...just gotta fine tune and hone it all into place...
I have not had a chance to see Moto2.
Rossi and the Ben are screwed. Watching their teammates do well ruin their credibility. Granted, Nicky fell off quite a ways, but at least he has been battling. The Ben is up shit's creek. Arguably the most sorted out bike with 1 factory and 2 satellites on the top 5. At least people expect the Ducs to suck.

rossi's comments actually confirm what i've been thinking for a while; that he hasn't been using the same setup as nicky. they've still been trying to "fix" the "unfixable" bike.
we'll see what happens in portugal.
fwiw, nicky looked pretty defeated in his post-race interview. he said the tires were trashed after 7 laps and he's obviously not happy that he couldn't even beat bradl.

The Ben should start shopping WSBK rides if this keeps up. [popcorn] Riding a CRT bike would be even worse... Edwards might be lapping him!
That's pretty bad when your teammate is battling for the lead and the Tech 3 boys are kicking your ass on sattelite bikes and all you can do is say I'm sorry to your team and you don't know what was going on with the bike? Huh? Ben... it's either you or the bike. Pick one. And that comes from a fan! Maybe you should stick with bicycle racing? [laugh] That's a joke people. Hope he gets it together. [Dolph]
You know, I get that MotoGP is the big league, the brass ring, yadda yadda yadda.
Moto2 and Moto3 have made the subscription worth the price to me and we're only 2 races into the season. [popcorn]
Getting ready to watch the MotoGP now.
Right now, for me, moto2/wsbk are currently the top tier moto racing series... motogp is just too meh. But then again, it was the change to moto2 that made it so great so I'm just holding out that some of these new changes will start to pan out in the future... we're already seeing better racing as it is though.
And it's interesting that Rossi is finally saying that he has to change riding styles for the bike. Will be interesting to see if he/his crew can adapt.

Coupla good laps, then it sucked. Best of the weekend--Cal. Worst--The Ben.
Rossi? Boo. Boo. Boo.
The Ben? Boo. He'll get it together. Don't write him off. It's only been two races. During which he has suxor'd.
Crutchlow? Loved him in WSS and WSBK. Stopped caring last year when he sucked. Now, I kinda root for him and kinda don't root for him (cuz he's a threat to The Ben). But it's great to see him finally showing what he can do in GP. A bit deceptive since he was on a hard. But it was still fun to watch.
Stoner? Kudos for legitimate shit talkin' about how make the beast with two backsed up Rossi is. You've earned it. Solid, mang.
Nicky? Fun while it lasted. Good to see a bit of your 2006 form. But WTF, mang? Get a bike that you can work with. I bet he'd run with the big boys on a Honda (one that isn't designed for a midget) or a yammie.

Lorenzo says Stoner, not Rossi, is his biggest threat this upcoming year. Despite the fact that he kicks old people out of wheelchairs, I agree. For now. ;D

I was surprise at George's tire choice error, though I should have known considering that he poops on the heads of orphan children.
^^ a moment of silence for Best Post Ever.

Classic! [clap]
So Spidey...tell us how you REALLY feel about Horghey?
Wait, wait, wait.... I thought the MotoGP race threads were here so we could pick on Pedrobot? Now I'm confused. Guess I need to find where I put my cane and chase those damn kids off my lawn! [laugh] I'll be back later.
Finally got to watch the Moto3 race today. Good race other than that one turn that was eating bikes up.
Haven't watched the M-3 race yet. Didn't even watch the one from Qatar. Maybe I can catch the Jerez race tonight.

Just turn down the volume, start your weed eater up, and imagine it is 125 racing.

It's pretty clear that George is a superb rider with some disturbing proclivities.
Good call. ;D I'll just listen to the 2 stroke leaf blowers outside in the neighbor's yard while I watch! [laugh]
Caught the action. It was a good race. [thumbsup]

I think it all stems from that yeAr in Valencia when he pulled up on his scotter and wouldn't take a picture with you.
