Title: knocked over... Again
Post by: He Man on April 29, 2012, 01:49:30 PM
this time i left the car about 5 feet of space in the back and 3 feet in the front. And somehow they knocked it over still. Mirror ripped off the master, but other then that, extra long cycle cat sliders and folding levers kept the bike relatively undamaged. Some scars on my termis too. :(. Number one reason why i do not own a nice bike.

That blows.I think alot of people just back up 'till they hit something and then pull out.If it's a car,not much happens. If it's a bike,well... [thumbsdown]

He man, if I were you id engineer a pressurized dye pack (like at the bank) mounted on the sides of you bike that goes off with a set amount of impact force.

That way the db driver gets a souvenir of his/her d-baggery :D

Outstanding idea! I'd buy one for each side of each bike. You could make millions and move out of that shithole!

the dye idea would be great, but then the rebounding dye would be on my own bike!

i rather just rig up a camera, run their plates, then stab their tyres.

The dye will cover up the trash that got dumped on your bike :D

maybe i should just install little cameras that turn on when i shut the bike off. if it gets knocked over. ill know who did it and have proof.

seriously, my bike could be a money making machine if i got checks from insurance companies for all the times i could go after them.

but thats why insurance is so damn high too.... well the times its not a real knock down and its just a scam.  :P

I thought about you Friday afternoon as I passed a bike that had been knocked down on Gough St. In S.F.
It still had the bike cover on it as it lay on it's side in between two cars.
You are due for a long respite from mishaps.

spikes on the ground around the bike.

put a police barrier of spikes at the correct distance so if they get within mm of the bike... POW. no more tires.

I think you need to put big orange bicycle safety flags on your bike to make it more visable!!!

instead of parking with the kick stand down, just take out the kick stand and lay the bike down on its side.  Put a couple blanket underneath, like its going to take a nap.  Pre-empt knocked over is much better than getting knocked over.   [cheeky]

I have seen him personally...I think he doesn't need flags on him...but it'd look cool bursting through town with them whipping in the wind...LOL

Where are you parking?  Camera is a great idea but doesn't work unless it's got a perfect view and it's not draining your battery.

Anywhere you can park off street?

I doubt people do it on purpose (some will) but most wont and it's just they can't see how close they are to your bike -- pennant flag?  put one on the parts that stick out.  Something that clips on and is cheap.

There's really no solution unfortunately.  NYC needs bike parking and the asshole mayor wants to run bikers out of town.

it just needs to see the license plate to be honest. I generally park at the corner of streets. or near fire hydrants, anywhere that only has 1 side exposed.

Normally it a car backing up on the vehicle.

I just dont get why someone cant stop the driver and call the cops instead of just watching.

Bastard cagers!  Too bad you can't use camera's from nearby locations that may have taped it.

I had to scream at a last once who almost backed into my parked bike.  What blows is that she had walked over and looked at my bike first and estimated how far I am.  Yet proceeded to almost hit it.

Or just copy the license plate and act as a witness, easy and safe enough.

That has happaned to me once, and he was willing to be a witness, the other time they were not willing to be a witness. its a hit or miss. i wouldnt mind doing it at all. though ive never had the chance to witness it. I would stop the guy though.

He Man?...............This is kinda like standing knee-deep in a cesspool and complaining about the aroma

you live in NYC-metro.............. if you own a car,, the bumpers will be scraped clean of any paint and will be gouged from port to starboard

the sides of your vehicle will have dings and pongos from nose to tail from people bouncing their car doors off them in parking lots

if you ride a vehicle that requires balance it is guaranteed to be knocked over (if not stolen first)

when parked regularly on the street

the only permament fixes are to use pay-for parking garages, give up using the bike or climb out of the septic tank and don't look back

Hence why I haven't painted my car again since I park on the street..  I just shine the turd once in a blue...

Im only complaining because it sucks.

I dont put bling bling parts on my bike because i know its going to get hit eventually. I dont care about the bike that much anymore. Its got folding levers to be able to pick up and ride home. Extra long sliders that look like ass to keep the bars from bending if its a hard hit. i keep the passenger pegs on to help keep the exhaust off the ground even though i dont take passengers. But hey the motor still pulls strong and she still keeps taking me places so shes still doing her job.

What annoys me is shitty people who need 6+ feet to back up and pull out of a spot. and those kind of people exists everywhere.
