Hey folks. I'm designing some custom risers for my wife's M620 to move the handlebars up and back a fair bit (would like to get them 2-3" back, which will mean going up 2-3" to clear the tank). I was thinking that I might be able to use the clutch & throttle cables from a Multistrada 620 of the same year, but I have 2 questions:
1) Will this work? Will the Multi cables fit with the Monster components at both ends? It seems likely to me, but you never know...
2) Can anyone tell me the length of the Multi cables, or point me to a good source for that info?
Going with the Ducati OEM parts would save me a bit of money vs. custom Motion Pro cables, and would let me order them from a local source instead of having to deal with shipping over the border to Canada (which is sometimes a pain). Any info about whether this is doable or not would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil.
BTW, I did a very simple/stupid measurement using profile photos of the Multi and the Monster. The straight-line distance from the engine mount bolt in the top/V of the engine to the leading edge of the throttle tube is about 5% longer on the Multi vs. the Monster. But I don't think that measurement really means very much...
1) Should. The clutch is hydraulic , thus not a cable. But The masters on both bikes have similar exit position and attachment to the slave, so you should be good on that front. But length will be your final arbiter.
The throttle cable isn't anything special. Just the normal barrel ended sort. Again, length will be your main issue.
2) Got me there.

Thanks. I really meant "choke", not clutch. My plan for the clutch & brake lines is to just make my own braided lines by cutting them to length and fitting Earl's banjos. For the brakes I'll go to a 2-line setup.

Yeah, I can't find this spec anywhere. Short of actually getting a set of cables in-hand and measuring them, I don't think that info will be forthcoming.
OK, I got lucky and found a seller on eBay with both sets of cables, and he was actually willing to measure them for me:
According to him, one of the throttle cables is 30 inches, the other is 32 inches. The choke cable is 34 inches. So that gives me some good #'s to work with as I figure out where to place the bars. I expect I'll still end up going with the Motion Pro custom length cables, but we'll see.
