Me!!! [bang]
Just heard back from my insurance that my new white 696 is totalled. Had it for exactly 5 days, put 800 miles on it. I loved the bike very much, so much that I was gonna just track my 675 and use the monster as my street ride. Now I don't know what I'm gonna do.
Insurance doesn't even know how much they're gonna pay out on the bike since it's not listed in NADA, lol. What angers me is that it was such a minor crash. I was going about 20 MPH at most, lost the front mid turn and went down. The bike looks perfect except for the right side turn signals. But Upon closer inspection it looks like the right fork banged into the frame causing a slight dent. Don't know what's gonna happen now. My dealer doesn't have any more whites, only black and red. :(
Total bummer man....Very sad...I hope everything works out for you.
sorry about your loss.

...
they are going to give you depreciated value for a 5 day old bike?
insurance profit FTL
That sucks. No damage to you, I hope.
Given the newness, they should give you what you paid (less deductable).
Glad you're okay. Hopefully they will replace the bike minus the deductible.
Good Luck.
O man i feel your pain man that absolutely sucks. Nothing is worse than crashing a brand new bike...........i didnt total mine but i did lowside at about 15mph after 2 weeks [bang] And managed to scrape up the fairings really bad. Best of luck!! At least your not hurt though could always be so much worse!!
Sorry to hear that, but the important thing is that YOU're OK! Yeah it sucks, but material is easy to replace as long as you have all wits and functions.
Best of luck! Hope you'll be riding again soon.

I was considering that, but I don't want to spend all the time wrenching. SO I just went to the dealership and picked up the red one they had on the floor. [beer] Sadly, this one runs like poo, stumbles like crazy below 4k. On the highway it's fine though. And the check engine light came on twice!!! After mulling the decision all day I went to the dealer after work to see what they could do. They gave me the red one for 9468 out the door. I think I did pretty well.

Exactly what I would try & do.
Sorry about your accident. Glad your ok.
Good you're ok, I know it sucks to be out of a bike.
Everything should work out for the better.
I also have close calls on my 696.
Get back to riding soon, take care of yourself.
Sorry for your loss ......
I don't really know how your insurance system works over there BUT ... can't you just get a new frame & fork?
After my accident, I got a new frame & bike's back to a 100%
Sorry to hear....
With the cash you will get back... go try an S4R and get hooked on the power...After you've fallen in love with it, then go buy an 05 S4R and you'll have money left you could use to customize it to your style.. [thumbsup]
Sorry about that...hope the insurance pans out...

Could I get a quick crash analysis? Was there gravel on the road, did you give er too much juice while leaning it over? I'm just curious as to the cause so hopefully we can learn from it
Sorry to hear about your loss dude
I'm not exactly too sure what happened on the crash. I think i had a flat going through the corner though, i was entering the onramp and the front end felt a bit slow, I looked down but couldn't see anything. By the time i had my eyes fixed on the road i was deeper into the ramp, Not a big deal for me. I applied ab it of trail braking while leaning the bike in and the front suddenly locked up. I'm thinking that I definitely had a flat and braking while leaned over was asking for more traction then the tire had while empty. Not sure though.
I heard from the insurance today. They're gonna end up giving me msrp for the bike plus the tax! They're also giving me 400 bucks for my helmet and 100 for my jacket as well as cover my towing fees!! I'm very happy, but now I have to drop off my new red 696 at the dealer to get the damn surging sorted out.
there always has to be a first at least you got another bike out of the deal.
