So I'm getting ready for a 5 day, 4 night trip. Picked up a few goodies. 1st, I got a RAM gps mount for my Garmin Nuvi 260W. Solid piece of equipment. Only one negative feedback. I had to cut this plastic piece that got in the way of the mini-USB plug. Cable that came with the GPS had a right angle mini-USB connector. If it had a straight out mini-USB connector, it would not have been a problem.

Besides that, the mount is solid. I tried it out on my 30mi commute to work today. Averaged 85mph. Nothing moved or shifted. No vibration. If I was planning to use the GPS more often, I might have opted to go with the more expensive handle bar clamp mount (that's the one that mounts to the existing handlebar clamp hole). Since I was only planning on using it for this one trip, I opted to get the cheaper option which just wraps around the handle bar. Total price: $25

More expensive handle bar clamp option (replaces one of the clamp screws)

2nd thing I picked up was the Nelson-Rigg CL-1030 tank bag. With the bag extended/enlarged, I was able to fit my 15" macbook pro at an angle. Fitment is great. Contours nicely to the sloping tank. The bag is connected by two straps and 4 buckles. One around the front of the frame and one under the seat. Getting gas means taking off two of the buckles and lifting the bag out of the way. I could have gone with a more expensive option of a bag that mounts to a bike specific gas cap adapter. But that would be $300+ where I only paid $100 for this bag. Tested it on my commute to work. Fits great, doesn't block the gauges at all. Overall I am very happy with my two purchases.

Thanks for posting this info. It so happens that I'll be heading on a 7 day trip from San Fran up the coast to Canada and this helps me to decide on what i need in terms of GPS set ups. [thumbsup]
And here's a cheap way to keep your GPS dry.
GPS rainproofing test with a condom ã,³ãƒ³ãƒ‰ãƒ¼ãƒ ã¯ãƒŠãƒ"ã®é˜²é›¨å¯¾ç–ã«ä½¿ãˆã,‹ã‹ï¼Ÿ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80aXEkWqIes#)
LOL. I laugh now. I'm sure once it rains, I'll stop by the nearest convenience store and pick up a pack of condoms. haha.
