Title: Cheers from Sunshine Coast, Australia
Post by: matsoutback on May 23, 2012, 02:25:44 PM
Just joined to learn and hopefully contribute, (that might be optimistic at this stage.)
Bought a new 796 after a stint with a Honda 600rr a few years back, and latter a Honda 125 for commuting.

So pretty green, but lovin' the Monster after 2000km's. Done the 14 tooth sprocket, but thinking of swapping out back to 15 and do a 41 rear instead...

Hi all. [beer]

Welcome, Mats from the Outback.I did the same 14 tooth mod but am going to a 15/43 when it's time for new chain/sprockets.

Thanks for the welcome, interested in your reason for the 15 - 43.

Mine is based on the rubbing / grinding sound with the 14 over the chain guide.

I will take this topic over the the appropriate forum.   ;)

Mine is based on the rubbing / grinding sound with the 14 over the chain guide.

Zero issue with mine. Your chain too tight? Loose? One tooth isn't going to increase the radius enough to lift the chain off the guide I'd imagine. Your chain well-lubed? How many miles on it? Running true otherwise?

Mine makes no noise, nor does the plastic guide show the slightest sign of wear...
