More to come
you just spray painted the engine correct?
I love that read of the frame...
excited to see more...nice teaser btw. [thumbsup]
Dig the black. Assume the hammer is for yourself ;D
Perfect color combo. [thumbsup]. I has hoping to have a new bike for seca also, but plans have fell thru so far.
Are you parking your bike on Ducati island for our viewing pleasure?
I'm heading up raceday, but parking in the regular lot this year because I'm bringing a Harley riding friend. hope to see you there!
Seanster: The case, jugs, and heads are rattle-can high temp paint. I just knocked the flaking paint off as best I could, degreased it, and sprayed. I split the jugs and heads from the case to get in those nooks and crannies better. Currently stalled waiting on the tool to torque the head bolts and some head gaskets.
Rocketman: After P/C'ing the frame, it was just ever so slightly tight mounting it back to the case. The hammers were used to "motivate" it into place (don't worry, there was a wood block between the frame and the hammer). I know it doesn't look like the frame changed color... cause the color didn't change. But it was pretty beat up after the 2009 (or maybee it was 2010) Ducatis in the Rockies, so it got a fresh coat. Also covers up the fact that I took off a bunch of brackets. Notice where the key is supposed to be for the seat latch...
Danaid: Yup, bought the 3-day duck island package.
Just for comparison:

Got a package in from CA Cycleworks. Thanks to their exact fit alternator cover gasket, I was able to button up the left side of the engine this afternoon.

I'm kinda kicking myself right now for not tearing down the kickstand and sending it to the powdercoaters as well. Oh well, live and learn right? Maybe I'll pick up another can of the high-temp engine rattle can and bomb it since that seems to match up reasonably well.
Also in the package from CA Cycle was a set of tapered bearings for the head. Got it put in, but no pictures yet since I want to get the front end buttoned up before I show it off.
Progress has been as slow as the mail... literally.

Hey look, the mail came!

The powdercoating really shines in this picture

Need to look into some vinyl for the forks.

You'll have to excuse the obviously under-used PT shirt... I blame being in postgrad.

Done for the night. Wiring is in place. Clutch is installed... turns out I had the plates in the wrong order, convex plate was out of place.
Gotta say, I'm a little sore from fighting with the harness.
Still to do:
-Get bodywork back from the body-shop. Should match the black powdercoat.
-Build new mounts for the coils
-Wait on Hypermotard oil cooler lines
-Oil
-Zip-tie the harness in place
-Mount the exhaust.
-Do some surgery on the taillight harness. I have NO idea why it's so damn long.
-Pick up a crankcase breather
-Pick up an air-filter for the idle-air
It's been a long road, and there are still a few small things to do... but... IT'S ALIVE!

I'm thinking I need a red stripe kit... also waiting on hypermotard oil lines.

tank in previous pictures is my "spare"/other tank
Now that the hyper lines and stripe kit are installed... I'm calling it done:

Great work [thumbsup] What is the advantage of the hyper oil lines?
They both go around the left side of the engine instead of one passing in front of the horizontal timing belt.
Ah, good to know. I have heard the Hyper cooler is 50% more efficient/better than the Monster's. Is their a size difference that makes it unattractive to fit to the Monster? Did you consider this option?
I dunno if that's the case or not really. Didn't even think about it because 1) I've never had overheating issues and 2)I already had an S2R oil cooler and just needed lines :P
