I was going to put this in PIF, but for some reason It just seems to be more than that...at least to me.
This is a really long story, and I've struggled with finding words so I'm going to spare you most of the details.
I received something this weekend that I honestly can never repay or say thank you enough times or possibly express enough gratitude. I also don't have the capability of paying forward anything even close to the magnitude of this.
Blind painters are in very low demand.
Shiv...
Not only are you a gracious host...
You gave me the gift of not having to worry about losing my sight and becoming a burden to my wife and son.
I will forever be indebted to you.
amazing....
I wasn't aware you had a problem.
So I'm happy that whatever was done for you was done, as whether you like it or not you grumpy old bastard [cheeky] , we like you and you have been instrumental in bringing joy to others. I'm happy that someone else could do so for you and your family. :)
Good on you....
it is hard sometimes to be the recipient of a gift or kindness that is impossible to repay
Every time I walk thru my front door in A-ville I am reminded of that :-*

Wow.... that - in whatever form it takes -
really is quite a gift :).
No incentive now for you to get a bloody move on, is there? [bang][laugh] ;)
WOW!
Just helping a friend, same as you would [thumbsup]
it was great finally meeting you, Nate. Had a blast with you, Matador, and DesmoLu all weekend :)

;D
Very very cool!!
[clap]
I understand having considerable vision limitations and when that changes, it's nothing short of amazing. To have a friend give you that, well, yeah, I can understand the lack of enough words to convey the gratitude. ;)
Thanks for sharing (on a Monday morning)!

This procedure wasn't vision correction. I was at risk for a somewhat uncommon form of glaucoma...one that can blind you in a very short time and severely damage your sight in a matter of hours.
I still have things to accomplish in my life...I have a little boy to care for. The thought of me possibly losing my sight has been weighing heavily on me for the past several months.

Likewise...give Zoe a scratch from me.
Shiv does what he did for me all the time so I realize it isn't a big deal to him...
Trust me my friend...
It's a big deal.
[clap]
Holy crap, Nate! We had no idea you were going through something so serious. I'm so glad that you were able to connect with someone who could help. The DMF is awesome!!
[clap]
:'( <--- happy ones
Too dang early for tears. I can only repeat what others have said. The DMF definitely does ROCK [clap]

Fortunately for you...and for us...it only turned you into a crotchety grumpy old bastard! [laugh]
Seriously though, I [beer] you Shiv. Without Nate, this place would suck even more! [cheeky]
this is awesome!!!
glad to know that you will be able to see for a while [thumbsup]
if you couldn't then who would tell the kids to settle down? ;D

Wow. From ominous to awesome. Again: amazing.
How wonderful! Very Awesome! [thumbsup]

Awesome. Speechless. Take your pick. Most of the folks on this planet are good and helpful. Watching the TV news or reading the paper might make you think otherwise. Some of that is true. Then there is the rest of us. Good stuff still happens every day. Thank God. [thumbsup]
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. :)

Same.
Pretty badass.
[thumbsup]
That being said, now there's no excuse for attacking screen doors, painter. You can't claim you didn't see it and it just "jumped out in front of you"
Seriously though, bad ass.
I got nothing new to add that hasn't been said already ;D [thumbsup]
Wow! The people here on the DMF are just awesome! I can't put much else into words.
JM
Shiv,
[bow_down] [bow_down] [bow_down]
You're a good man.
[thumbsup] [clap] [bow_down]
This is why I love this place!!

Say that after you've heard him snoring...
Naw j/k Painter is awesome and surprisingly un-grumpy.
And yes, swampduc is the shizznit. I mean, his nickname is shiv, but I call him sharpened toothbrush as a term of endearment, how badass is that?
Nate and Shiv are both awesome. And if anyone is ever in Nola, they should throw makers mark and boobies in the general direction of swampduc. He deserves nothing less
This thread is full of awesomeness. [thumbsup]

[thumbsup]
this is cool.
the folks here are by far the best people in the world...that I've never met [laugh]
