I'm looking to buy an open face helmet. I currently have the Arai RX-Q , but the warm weather that we are having having in Toronto is unbearable. Therefore I'm looking at a open face helmet. Specifically, I'm wanting to get the Monster Open face helemet that came out in 2009 when the new 696 was introduced. I believe that Nolan produced it for Ducati. ( The code for the helmet is 98150901) Does any one know where I can buy one in the Toronto region, or anywhere else in the USA. I'm a medium-( 71/8-71/4).
Thank you... ???
what happens to your chin when you wreck?
It's simply moved to your forehead.
I had one of these that my bike's previous owner gave me but I sold it on here a couple years back.

I think you sold it to me.
I use it at work as a decoration but not as a helmet. I like the graphics on it but also like my chin so it just sits on a shelf behind my desk.
Find a helmet with better venting.
Thanks..I get the picture. Having said that... is there any open face helmet that you would suggest?
Nope
Do you ride w/ your visor open or ride w/ the visor removed?
You will get a lot more air flow and w/ good sunglasses it's not to bad on your eyes.
But I'm guessing someone will say this is a bad idea too but it's a lot better then riding w/ a brain bucket

FWIW this may be illegal depending on your area and the glasses. I know for my state you're required to wear impact rated eye protection on a bike. There are lots of glasses options out there that do make the impact rating criteria.
There's the offroad style helmet w/ googles. Though they are not so great at speeds as the brim/visor tends to lift the helmet.
If you're dead set on an open helmet - look at webbikeworld. They have reviewed a helmet or two that was open or convertible that still had allowances for a chin bar - more like an (American) football kickers type single bar
I recently bought a Roof Boxer. It's a modular style helmet that allows you to remove the chin bar all together if you want.
It's easily the most versatile helmet I've ever owned and would recommend it in terms of style and comfort. [thumbsup]
a local moto store just opened on ossington with tons of open face options you should check out : http://townmoto.com/ (http://townmoto.com/)
Open face helmet is better then no helmet at all (in canada helmets are mandatory)..so wear whatever makes you happy!
stuff they have :

I switched from an open face to MX helmet w/ impact rated sunglasses (Wiley-X with the foam surrounds). I took the brin/visor off and plugged the resulting holes with some kind of plugs from the hardware store. The MX helmet is moderately quieter and flows the same amount of air on an unfaired bike.
I did just get a "dual-sport" helmet that I'll run with no brim (optional) and visor attached (also optional) but with it open under about 60mph.
bubble visor FTW.

Oh yeah, you're right. Glad you're still enjoying it, good use of it as it is a pretty bad ass looking helmet.

i would recommend the roof helmets too [thumbsup] , don't buy older model like the boxer classic, i suggest you the roof boxer v8 black shadow (http://www.boxer-helmets.com/roof-boxer-v8-helmets/roof-boxer-v8-helmet-black-shadow) or the roof boxer v8 R (http://www.boxer-helmets.com/roof-boxer-v8-helmets/roof-boxer-v8-r-helmet-gloss-red) (better air intakes and vents) or the latest model: roof desmo helmet (http://www.boxer-helmets.com/roof-desmo-helmets/roof-desmo-helico-helmet-red)
In TX heat, which is 99 pretty much all summer and feel like 110...Im okay with my Arai Profile. And I love my chin ;D

[bang] sold out... those things are sick. Wonder if anywhere else sells em...
I usually wear a full face helmet, but if I am running local errands in the city I wear a Momo Avio. I really like it.
i picked up a pretty sweet carbon fiber RUBY helmet with a silver star design last time i was in london. it is absolutely baller, with umber comfy quilted red leather interior. it feels like your head is being pressed with angels' boobs. http://www.ateliersruby.com/ (http://www.ateliersruby.com/)
but i only wear it on my vespa around town. i ride re-diculously fast (or at least terrifyingly loud [evil]) on my monster, so full face helmet, full leathers and boots all the time, without exception.
Thanks for the suggestions. For an open face helmet and from what I have thus far, seen The Momo Avio looks the best...I have checked on the web , and short of ordering it on line, does anyone know if I can get the Monmo any where in Toronto.
A big thank you as always.
