Didn't see a place for build threads, so I figured I'd throw it in here.
Bought the bike 06-01-2012. Almost up to my 600 mile service. Only have a few mods done so far, but figured I would share regardless.
Day I brought her home.

Only mods so far is a comp werkes tail kit, Fresco carbon slip ons (picked up from Motowheels) , and 3" bar end mirrors.

Mirrors are now turned right side up so I can actually see out of them. Love the slip ons, only issue I'm having is when I dont run them with the baffles, sometimes when the bike is cold it will cut out. I'm assuming this is because the bike is running lean. Haven't had any issues once the bike is warm.

It looks good Gitter, I like the exhaust a lot.
It always amazes me how mush the bar end mirrors changes the entire profile of these bikes! EVERYTHING just looks lower with those on. [thumbsup]
Bike looks Great Glitter, I have 2011 796, looking to do same mods, what brand is the exhaust? I looked on Moto wheels, didn't see that slip on. was the undertail hard to instal? I was thinking Arrow Dark Thunder for mine.
I think I snagged the last set of fresco slip ons they had. I think they mentioned something about not carrying them anymore ( dont quote me on that though) Ive been debating selling them and going with something like the leo vince carbons. Arrows are nice too, that was another one I considered. The carbon cans were just a little more than I wanted to spend at that current point in time.
The undertail wasnt hard to install. If I had it to do over I would have gone with an evotech though, instead of the comp werkes
Rizoma (005) bars installed. Need to pick up a shorter riser so I can rotate the bars a little further back to where they are supposed to be. Over all I like them though. Very good fit and finish.

Haven't updated this in a while. Added a 14t sprocket, shortened the stock front signals and plasti dipped the stock bar riser and headlight.

looks good!
;D
Bellisma!
Looks real nice. Cool pipes. But I gotta say from the front it looks like its wearing a shriners hat. Is that the new duc attempt at a flyscreen?
Haha no that's actually the back of the gauges. I took the flyscreen off
Are the handlebars the standard or touring? im looking into the same bike, but the stock bars feel too far foward, i heard the rizoma touring bars with 60mm risers make it much more comfortable.
They are the touring bars on stock risers. They are rotated back to almost to the last marker on the bars. They almost come in contact with the tank at full lock, but I find it to be a comfortable position. I'm 5'8 if that gives you a good reference
Jeez, I got all excited for a minute.
No offense, but new handlebars and slip-ons don't constitute a "build."
How about "Glitter's 796 mods." :)

was wondering the same
My apologies for causing a false sense of excitement....if there are certain requirements somewhere that stipulate what can and cant be called a build thread I must have missed them.
That also raises the question of what modifications one must complete before being able to refer to their thread as a "build" thread.
A "build" around here is usually a ground up afair. With custom made parts or fabrication. There are guys here with some serious skills.
My bike is far from stock, but I don't consider what I've done to it a build. It's just a bunch of bolt on shit that a monkey could install. What I've done are "mods" and I think it would more oppropriatly describe your bike.

^^This.
Modding IMO is fitting and/or adapting components already manufactured by
others.
Whereas a "build" is having the skills to be able to design and fabricate the shit
yourself. I'm constantly in awe of those around here with such skills.

+1. I'm in the same monkey category [thumbsup].

No need for apologies. And you shouldnt feel that anyone here is taking a shot at you. You have a nice bike with some nice accessories, the point being made is merely that nice though they are they're not
that remarkable nor ground-breaking :).
There is no doubt in my mind that there are many people on this board that know a lot more than I do about fabrication and really anything in that arena (Raux being one of them). If one of the mods wants to change the title to "mods" instead of "build" I really have no issue with it at all.
That being said, there is a difference between the original comment that sparked this little side bar and the comment right above this one. It stands to reason that if someone prefaces a statement with "No offence, but" they are expecting that statement to be offensive in some way. Which to me is somewhat counterproductive considering the idea behind an online forum.
Anyway, like I said before, if one of the mods wants to change the name of the thread to mods instead of build thats fine with me.
Don't feel like its personal or anything. ;)
This mod vs custom has come up before. Don't let it sour your view of the forum. It's all in good fun. [thumbsup]
If you want you can edit the title in your first post.

In this case, you're wrong. ;)
Getting back to what this thread is actually about...
Charcoal canister gone -

Pazzo shortys and shorai battery on the way
[thumbsup]
Nice. It's amazing how that little piece of plastic cleans up that side.
Any plans on removing the frame stickers? I relocated mine under the steat.
Just a thought.... try removing the oil cooler fairing. Makes it look pretty sharp. Thats IF you want to go for a good naked look.
So remove the oil cooler cover and the two side covers also? I'm curious how that would look. Anyone have any pictures?
Found some pictures in one of your threads. I like the look but I worry about the oil cooler losing the little bit of protection it had.
On a side note, you like the s4r wheels and rear sets?
