Title: New Member from the North Coast (Lake Erie)
Post by: Skip1one on July 03, 2012, 08:12:11 AM
My name is Skip and I live in Mentor, Ohio. I just purchased my 7th bike in 51 years of riding. It's a 2006 Monster S2R800 Dark. I've ridden everything from 2 strokes to boxers, Japanese, Germain, English, Italian and a few Rickman framed specials, but nothing has been as much fun and confidence building as the Ducatis I've ridden. My son had a 695 Dark which I rode one time and was hooked.

I joined this forum to learn more about the tricks, traps and mods for my bike.

I've been a member (by proxy) of DesmOhio for about 5 years.

Welcome!  [thumbsup]

You're far from the only old fart here or with X00,000 miles under their belts! Rickman Triumph by any chance?

I'm sure your son and DesmOhio will keep you from messing the bike up!  ;)

Rickman Honda.

After the tornado that ripped thru Xenia Ohio in the mid 70's and damaged a Honda dealership, they were selling damaged crated Honda 750 sohc's for $300 each. Bobby only needed an engine/trans to install into one of the last Rickman Honda frames that he had purchased for $700 including shipping. So for $1000 and his time (he was a Honda dealership mechanic) he had a 325lb. 750 Honda. We were both into the cafe and road race scene and we would race around the outer belt around Columbus and try to beat each others times. There about 30 of us back then with Hondas, Nortons, Triumphs, Kawasaki 900s, RD350s who did the 'belt.

Interesting! Another sick pup! You'll fit in this asylum well.  ;) Had a Rickman Zundapp 125 and a 750 Rickman Triumph myself, along with several other bikes including first year R90S with 40mm Dellortos. I paid more..., however!  :(
