Title: Hello from Pennsylvania
Post by: jmilliron on July 12, 2012, 06:41:07 PM
Hi All,

I just purchased a stock 2003 m620.  I'm looking forward to soaking up all of your advice on modifications and maintenance.  I have about a 20 mile commute that I'll be riding as long as the weather is good.

Hey Jim, they make the TKC 80 tires in 17" sizes for when it gets bad out too!

Jokes (sorta) aside, welcome.

So as is my custom with folks who get 'older' bikes - I ask, do you know the maintenance history?  Ducs are like most other bikes generally - but they do have a maitenance gotcha. The drive belts for the cams are spec'd to be replaced at 12k miles OR 2 years from install. Number of folks find monsters with low miles and some years of age and don't realize they need to deal with that item right off.

If you're a DIY sort it's an easy job, and about $80 for the pair of belts. There's even a youtube vid, on a 620 engine walking through it.

620s a solid little ride. I do miss from time to time. Yeah, my 900 has better brakes and suspension.. but the 620 was fun.

So again, welcome. Check on those belts and have fun. Oh and what part of PA? There's a decent number of folks on here from Penns woods.
