Anyone have pics of the Motowheels Billet Ohlins Steering Damper Mount Kit installed? I'd like to see what the mounts at each end look like and that's not shown on the MW website pic.
Here's the thread on this forum about the item with the pic from the MW website (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=58340.0)
Any feedback on this item also welcome.
TIA
is this supposed to be a side mount, top mount, or an under the bottom of the triple tree mount for your 01 M750?

Under the bottom of his triple
Neat but isn't it a bit difficult to adjust while riding?

I ran that set up on my 96 M900 for about 10 years.
It could be adjusted on the fly but you really don't need to adjust the steering damper when you are riding. I never adjust the ones that are on the triple clamp unless someone was fooling around with it.

I agree about on-the-fly adjustment and thanks for the pics, Martin.
email sent with further questions.

Wow...really, I totally disagree [roll]
I don't like the tension when riding thru town...slow turns etc.
But, soon as I get on the freeway or open riding...I crank it on.
Am I in the minority here ?

I also adjust while riding.
Same as you. Lighter feel for around town and dial it up for highway or rough roads.
Medium most of the time or if there's a lot of twisties.

No worries, that's why there's 31 Flavors. [thumbsup]
I wouldn't bother with minority/majority - only one person rides your bike, right? ;)
FWIW, my Duc is dedicated for twisty therapy ... 1 mile out my gate and I'm on a 70mph curvy two-lane rural road. I've got a shafty sport-tour for the daily freeway and urban stuff. [Dolph]
I also use the under the triple mounting location. I set it and forget it.

I used to play with my steering damper on my other bikes, but I found I liked it on the light settings all the time.
This forced me to set up the bikes correctly without the steering damper - and not rely on the damper like I did in the past.
Now the dampers are just an insurance policy in case it gets crossed up.

Maybe I fiddle with mine too much just because it's top mount and I easily can.
Still thinking of using the under-tree mount so I can upgrade to an Ohlins damper. AFAIK there is no way to top-mount the Ohlins to an S4R?
Moto....
I feel my suspension is setup correctly & have always had a damper on the bike....and fortunately never had a "tank slapper" [beer]
But when on the freeway at speed, combined with a lot of gusty 15-25mph trade winds to make it interesting I like the damper cranked on....just feels so stable
like it's on rails [thumbsup]
Here is an S2R with a top mount damper. I'm not sure if this will work for an S4R, because I don't know the differences.

Very nice!
That Matris mounts similar to the DP carbon damper I'm running at the moment.
hey Moto
Can i use this mount kit with the 996 frame? I changed out my top triple to accomodate handle bar so I lost the oem damper mount.
Can i use this with the oem damper?
thanks,
I am a set it and forget it guy. I loved the under triple location on my Z1000. It was not that hard to reach under the triple to adjust it while riding. Wish they made an under mount for my 2013. Especially as the top mounts have not fit properly.
