First CE approved vest type airbag system has come to market. It *appears* this one has some important advantages over some of the other stuff - namely one could easily reuse it, if not damaged. Crashing might force it out of service - but like all these lanyard attached systems a simple tip over or moment of forgetfulness can set them off if you get too far from the bike. Some others I've seen need to be sent back for repacking.
Another nice feature - blows up like a neck collar to prevent hyper movements of the cervical spine.

That's nice. Do you need to replace the pressurized canister or can you refill it?
Looks like a threaded CO2 like you'd use for a emergency tire filler. A 1 shot cartridge, but cheap to replace.
Nice, I would buy one, I've noticed I'm slowly loosing my fearlessness that was so prevailant in my youth. haha ...uhh :-[
Wonder what the pricing is going to be? Dainese is releasing there fully automated street airbag system, but I can only guess the price $$$$$$.
now to get the system integrated into a good jacket sos ya dont look like a crossing guard.

I was thinking more Coast Guard. The high-viz stuff is nice, but why not an option in grey or black?
Why is everyone more concerned with looking cool than being safe? I wear a hi-viz jacket every time I ride, and notice heads turn all the time.
Another, user serviceable item coming to market

This one is a jacket, with an add on air bag module
More coming to market. Dianese one due out soon. The Dainese oen doesn't rely on a cord, but on sensors to activate the vest. No worries about accidentally popping the vest of you get off without disconnecting, but it does mean installing items on your bike and it won't work otherwise

You can get the Helite system in black or brown with the full jacket. http://www.helite-motorcycle-airbagjackets.co.uk/textile-motorbike-jackets/13-road-touring.html (http://www.helite-motorcycle-airbagjackets.co.uk/textile-motorbike-jackets/13-road-touring.html)
A black vest would be nice though, with reflective piping.

Safety is an illusion, looking cool is not. ;D
