Title: New member in the desert
Post by: ReconnaissanceMan on August 09, 2012, 06:41:27 AM
My 2003 M620 is the 14th motorcycle I've owned, and the second L-twin. My other L-twin is a  Cagiva 650 Alazzurra, which I can't decide if I'll keep. My daily ride is a Honda CBR600f3.

First saw a Monster a few years ago in an insurance salvage lot. The bike had been rear ended resulting in the tail tubing being twisted up. I was a little amused that the bike had been totaled just for that, but the insurer sees motorcycle frame repair as a big liability. Don't remember what engine the bike had but I was absolutely entranced by the simplicity and sophistication of the trellis design and the smart way it straddles the motor making it a part of the overall structure. Ducati's homage to aviation design is quite stirring to gear heads like me. I have wanted one ever since.

I bought mine as a project bike. The machinery is 99% there: needs the horizontal pipe and right slipon replaced, and rear brake master cylinder. As soon as I pick up a battery I'll put a little gas in the tank and see what happens. This is my first fuel-injected bike.

Anyway, glad to be part of the forum.

Cheers,
Mick
