Out of all the Ducati Monsters that you have owned, which one was your favorite? (year/model/displacement)
What was it that made that particular bike stand out for you?
Boobies
And by that they must mean the 2001 M900Sie........the best Monster ever made [laugh]
Well I've had 2 and I love them anyways. You need to ask yourself if you want air or water cooled, carbed or FI, SSA or DSS Monster. I've always kind of wanted an S4, but I usually like my Monsters as they were intended (with no radiators) just sayin..... [laugh] But in all honesty, my next one will probably be a used 1100 if I don't got back to the full faired Ducs.

[laugh] The only thing I like better about the 2000 is that it came with the Ohlins....your brake is mounted on the wrong side [laugh]
I've only had one, but I've had it for 19 years so far, so I'll vote for that one. 1993 M900 -- the original.
If I was to pick from a blank slate, though, my favorite model Monster made, I'd say the S2R1000.
PhilB
2001 m900 ie!
I'm quite fond of my 2006 620 Dark.
I love the look of the double sided swing arm and the visual balance of the 2 exhaust cans.
Plus the dark is so understated that it just allows the overall simplicity and perfection of the basic Monster design to stand out.
The injection is great for an everyday ride.
The displacement and weight make it easy to ride and it does so many things well.
Commuting to work, Sunday corner carving, occasional track day, weekend get aways, you name it, she can do it!
The stock suspension leaves something to be desired, but it's nothing that the aftermarket can't fix at a reasonable price.
The aircooling does work very hard on hot days in stop and go traffic, but I did add the oil cooler so that helps a bit.
It's a bit underpowered if you're used to liter bikes or even Japanese 600's but then it costs a lot less then those bikes to insure.
Now the plastic gas tank is another story...

Radiator? Really?
Obviously not my favourite, I'd never noticed that.

BoobiesRS.
looking back.
I wish I still had my 99 Monster 900 City.
Totally stock (well with Ti cans and larger rear sprocket)

[laugh] Sorry, got my thoughts crossed up since I mentioned the S4 right before it. [laugh]
I love my 03' M1000Sie but the S4RS I test rode was simply incredible.
You know i dont have too much room to talk cause ive only had one...(796 for a little over 2 years.) But i love the Tricolor S4RS or the Foggy edition. JUST because they are both fancy beasts! Not only do they have the awesome look but they kick some serious ass!
Well, even though I didnt own it my favorite was the 2001 m900 dark I saw in the movie theater. Seeing that opened my eyes to Ducati and motivated me to go buy my first monster.
All this Monster stuff....I wish this thread would stay on topic [evil]
I just owned an S2R 800, but I'm with PhilB, the S2R 1000 would have been the pinnacle of my definition of the Monster:
original model
air-cooled
dry clutch
SSS
Simply the perfect Monster.
00' 750
08' S2R 1K
I love my current S2R, but I think I'll go with the 750. While it was under powered, that actually made it a better bike. It was also my first love so she will always have that going for her. Metal tank, simple engine, just a great bike all around.
Has to be the be the s4 just for the engine has to be. I also could be biased as I've only owned but I don't think so.
2001 900 ie , bought it new and still own it
The 888 framed bikes. I prefer the older carbed 900s from 93-96, the 98-99 900S, and the 2000-2001 of the injected. Probably the black 98 900S or Ohlins equipped red 2000S would be my favorites.
only owned my 620, so by default, that would be my favorite one.
overall?
probably 1000ds... in senna
I loved my 96 M900
but my 2002 900ie can sit for months on end untended, ignored, no battery tender
I'll go to garage turn the key hit the button and it fires right up as if I had ridden it yesterday
hence its name "yellow dog"....always ready to go for a run
