When I dropped my 696 on my first ride, the tank cover got a dent in it, and there's a big rash down the side. After looking at trying to fix it, I figured I'd look for a replacement. Has anyone tried http://www.mototechcycle.com/products/armour-bodies-pro-series-race-bodywork-ducati-monster-6961100-fuel-tank-cover# (http://www.mototechcycle.com/products/armour-bodies-pro-series-race-bodywork-ducati-monster-6961100-fuel-tank-cover#)!prettyPhoto ? I figure I can get this, get a base coat of the Ducati pearl white, and get a custom paint job. Pros/cons?
Man that looks like a sharp piece.... i would consider it. Opens up a few windows for a solid tank look ;)
With custom paint, it might not be cheaper at the end - but that's up to you to research, and I don't know the cost for one of those body panels . A color therapy kit - all 3 panels is about $600.
Can't see any real cons to it - other than it's not modular like the current bits - so if it ding it again it's not just the one side you're replacing. No overt pros either. It's pretty much a push w/o knowing the dollars needed to execute either way.
cool thanks for the link.. but WHY did they not smooth out the center piece to make it look like a single piece.

I think that would be quite easy to fix... I'm really contemplating the idea. I know marcel is really good with carbon fiber and fiberglass... Let alone paint...I'm sure he wouldn't charge much for a nice piece!
I was quoted to replace the one side cover that's damaged costs $320 from Ducati. Then a custom paint job on top of that will add more depending on what I want. This replacement part is $148, plus $100 for matching paint, plus any paint for customization (which I may do myself), I think I'll come out ahead versus the $600 for the color therapy kit, and I won't have to change the color on the registration, saving me a trip to the DMV. And I'll have a unique 696 [thumbsup]

+1
As the basis for some custom paint.... it is pretty well priced though.... be interested to hear how the quality is from somebody with FHE.
Sorry to thread jack.. But on the point of changing the color on the registration, how does it work.. I've been meaning to e-mail the bmv...
So what if you want to ride with one color for a couple of months and then switch again? And if you just want to be a dousche and have one color for the left panel and another for the right?
Any thoughts?

I seem to recall the Virginia DMV has an option for multi-colored, but I try to avoid dealing with them if I can help it.
