Title: Buying a Monster750
Post by: Slita on August 29, 2012, 02:57:42 AM
Hi
I'm buying a 2000 monster 750 and I figured I would start here and see if there is anything I should watch out for. Any known problems? Headaches? Any advice?
Thanks

Ensure that you've got the maintenance records. One thing to watch for is the cam belts. They are spec'd to be replaced at 2 year or 12K miles. Usually on older bikes, they sit a bit and the belts don't hit 12k miles , but do go over 2 years.

It's a carby, so checking on when the carbs were last serviced and to what degree. Similar for the suspension - probably needs a fresh up.

Really, it's just the belts that are to only unique item. Otherwise they are solid and the normal used bike check out rules apply.
