I just got a Google Nexus 7 made by Asus and I am pretty durned happy with it!
is there a retailer that you can get your hands-on experience with the Google tablet?
I may get one for my wife, she uses an older iPod touch to read ebooks and organize her life, she thinks the iPad is to large and heavy for her, as she keeps her iPod touch in her purse at all times.
I have the iPad 2 and I love, love, love it. For me it is the perfect size and the best electronic device I have ever bought. I take it everywhere with me, to work, the bathroom, and away on vacation.
My iPhone has become just a phone once again since I bought the iPad 2, my MacBook air sits in its case in the closet. I just ordered the iPhone 5, I don't know why, it will be used as a phone. ;D
I like the price point of $249 that could make me get another one.

An incredibly sexy phone!
So any idea when this thing might hit the market? Oh October. Never mind.

Staples is where mine came from...
Released today.
I don't have any tablet device. Ideally i would first like to replace my 2006 mbp first with the newer mbp retina. After that, the mini would be great. But alas it is all a dream.
My question on the mini is does it come with a GPS (actual hardware gps not using the wifi ). I hear that the iPad mini with cellular is the only one that has a GPS hardware. Can anyone confirm this? To me the GPS and retina on a mini would be the way to go. Then I would get rid of my iPhone4 and move down to old phone (just phone) with no data plan etc. The mini would then be my GPS and web use and I can take anywhere on the bike etc and long run avoid the data plan on cell phone charges.
That is my ideal use at some point in future.
You would have to have the cellular version to have GPS.

thanks.
I like apple products and am long time user. But it kind of blows that they don't include GPS hardware on the wifi version. I am pretty sure majority of customer's are NOT aware of this. Really ridiculous thing to do from Apple.

anybody that pays attention or bothers to read the specs knows. the same has been the case for the "big" ipad since the initial release.

intentionally crippling is a marketing art form. [bang]
got my hands on one yesterday. not bad overall but for the price of the wireless version I'll stick with my regular pad. they missed the mark on pricing this thing imo.
i think reason the wireless doesnt have gps is because there would be no way for a satellite to track it since it is only wifi.
and i think ill stick with my ipad 2!
but you don't have retina. :o
I put both non and retina together and can't tell the difference....ok just barely but it 's not this earth shattering shit everyone is drooling over IMO. Only reason I have my Ipad 3, no obsolete (dickheads), is because of 4g.

No doubt. The mini is essentially a smaller iPad 2 with Siri and slightly better cameras. The downside is that with the new lightning connector, you'll need all new cables ($19) and docks, or an adapter ($29-$39) for each.Because the new cables are chipped there likely won't be any inexpensive alternatives.

I didn't put them together but I also didn't see any problem with the I pad 2 display. I just wish they would have sold it to me in 32 Gig size instead of just 16.
My solution to that is to not put a bunch of stuff on it. I can live without GPS. I could always get another handheld GPS unit to do GPS stuff with.

Have you ever bought anything from them? Just wondering about the quality? Just got an iPhone 5 and I need a converter for my docking speakers.

Lemme guess, Galaxy S3?
nope. a half-dozen ipods, a first and third generation ipad, and two iphones.
i've always had enough dock-connector cables (and a 2nd gen ipod dock) that i haven't needed to buy more.
i did, however, break down the other day and buy two (official apple) usb-to-lightning cables.

Don't worry. Per their site, "We no not debit or capture your payment until we ship out your order" [cheeky]
They're probably fine, but may take a while to ship. Count on the Chinese to hack/crack pretty much any tech out there.

more like count on the Chinese to steal the technology right from the factories in their backyard.
