I think herm made the right choice with his recent truck purchase. ;)

Will it also be able to run over the protesting tree huggers on the way? [cheeky]
More impressive would be the RAV-4 Endeavor project

So they really couldn't use an American made truck to tow the space shuttle?

Toyota is a sponsor at the museum.
The Tundra is built in San Antonio, TX. It's engine is built in Huntsville, AL, with aluminum block & heads cast in Troy, MO, with a frame built by Dana Corp. in Owensboro, KY. Should I continue?

Don't tell them all that, they'll have sleepless nights. ;)

So let me get this straight. Japanese Toyota trucks are made in Texas, and my American Dodge truck was built in Mexico. ??? Yeah I don't get it.
That's one heck of a load for that Tundra!
And I'm glad that I only have to travel across WA to Seattle to see the Shuttle mock-up.
Episode Two.
Basically, a little more information on why, how, etc.

yeah .... I know. where's tree hugger in Canada but we love gun's too so it evens things out ;D [laugh]
Tundra's role in the mission to move Endeavour from LAX to the California Science Center changed somewhat.
The trucks and hauling dollies were too heavy for the bridge across the 405 freeway, so at that point, the shuttle was transfered to a lighter dolly and the Tundra pulled Endeavour across the freeway.

Yes, I watched the above clip myself. the tundra pulled it a very short distance but pulled it non the less. the actual Dollies that the shuttle sits on are powered themselves and for the most part moved it most of the distance. of course in the beginning you see the tow mule which probably has less horsepower/torque than the tundra.
impressive! but that cant be good for the truck in question in the long run...
regardless, i am extremely pleased with my new (to me) truck.

I don't foresee any durability issues with the Tundra. After all, it will be on display at the science center as part of an ongoing exhibit.
And the plan all along was for the Tundra to only tow Endeavour a short distance.
