Hi all,
I am based in Cork Ireland and have recently bought myself a 2001 Monster S4.
I run a motorcycle Suspension business and thought that the S4 is a great demo/show Bike
Of course I keep adding and modifying the bike (It will probably never be done!!)
I have fitted a Wilbers 641 Rear Shock (As I am the Irish Wilbers Importer) I also reworked and revalved the Forks. The standard S4 forks have fairly poor damping but can be made a lot better.
I love the low down grunt from the 916 motor. I have richened up the fuelling a little using an OBD II cable and the Ducatidiag (free!) software. I have also got a power commander III for it but have not fitted it as yet. I want to get it running properly on the stock ECU first. I love some of the mods on the Monsters here and admire the work done by Radical Ducati in spain.
Looking forward to posting some pictures of the Bike and getting some help and advice from all the Monster people here.
Cheers,
Paul

Welcome - there's a few other Irishmen running around here making trouble.
So suspension you say - you might find this an interesting read:

- It's a very in depth look at and series of modifications to the Showa forks - like the ones on the S4. It'd be interesting to see your thoughts on the subject.
My front forks have a very similar mod to the ones in this article.
I agree with everything that was said in the article. On the standard S4 forks you just cant dial in any noticeable low speed Compression damping. The solution is to convert the forks. This makes them function like more conventional cartridge forks (As on most sports bikes) Early Suzuki GSXR 750's from the 90's also had the poorly designed forks with the rebound valve at the top of the damper rod.
I used a K-tech valve kit to get the necessary rebound valves and needles.
I replaced the fork springs with Wilbers progressive 7-9 N/mm springs. The only thing that had to be fabricated was a pair of rebound control rods.
The front end was transformed. This was a cheaper option than fitting a GSXR K5-6 front end.
Welcome,
I'm interested in hearing more about your OBD2 - DucatiDiag set up;
