Looks like fun :)

I used to do that until one day in college my friend asked me to come with him to this road with a series of hills nicknamed the 7 sisters. We tightened the shit out of the trucks on our sector 9 boards and needless to say I hit a patch of sand my third time down and ended up not remembering my trip to the hospital. I got a concussion, road rash on my palms, and 15 stitches in my upper lip. 15+ years later the board is sitting in my garage unridden.
That does look like huge fun. Alas, I've already got enough potentially painful hobbies that I'm no good at. ;D
I did give the old one piece leathers that were gathering dust in the closet to a kid who wants to race longboards but couldn't afford the gear - from his description of the sport, it sounds like he's a lot more likely to need 'em than I will.
What was the camera person riding?

^ Geez!
Most of the long boards I see are high school or college kids who can't afford a car.
My name is Matt and I'm a longboarder (alla AA).
It's really a ton of fun. I mainly cruise and SUP. I have a few boards for different things.
I'm not really into the "go fast" downhill crowd. Bombing big hills just isn't my thing. I would rather carve
up a nice gentle hill. Remember in longboarding it's like riding your bike ATGATT.
I've got a 42" symmetrical bamboo board for carving, it's nice and flexy. I've got a 58" hardwood pintail for
cruising on the river levee paths. It's just a fun thing to do honestly.
I don't know why, but I sort of feel like this is more dangerous than riding a motorcycle.
personally I think it can be. there is a vid of a guy doing a 100+ foot slide in the rain at 60mph.
Or the record speed downhill of I think close to 80mph. On a bike you don't worry about a piece of gravel or crack in the pavement
or a pinecone. The serious downhiller either have no fear or no sense. I ate it the beginning of this summer.
just pushing along the levee and put my foot in front of the wheel. the board stopped, I didn't.
I flew superman style face first into the pavement. [bang]
speaking of bombing hills Ive always loved this video..

There's a lot of them here in nyc.. big ass skate board.. don't need to pedal much if you've got enough space to slalom
I've occasionally seen kids board down our road...I don't know if they start at the top of the hill or partway down but the hill is 10-15% grade for 2 miles, very twisty.
Just this weekend on a local mountain we ride frequently. About 5 miles long, 5-6% grade so full of switchbacks. And events. And critters.
