Hi Folks,
Ive had a rear wheel hugger sitting around for a couple of years, now I think its time to fit it to the bike, my problem is how do you attach it to the swing arm, I did try a strong double sided tape but can be pulled off pretty easy, other options are to glue it on using polyurathane or cable ties, will need to drill holes in the hugger for cable ties.
Bike is a 07 S4R
What would you do?
Cheers
Mal
uh pics?
they screw on... but I'm thinking you have some offbrand universal hugger you're trying to use.
Yeah I know the screw on type that replaces chain guard etc, but this one fits in behind the swing arm, moulded to fit the swing arm, looks good but if I glue it on I know at some stage it will need to come back to work on the bike.
Will post some pics

you'll have to check with others on this, but I would drill and tap two holes on the upper and lower part of the swing arm lined up with the center of the hugger.
another option would be doublesided tape with possible a zip tie safety
I dunno guys. Glue or tape seems a little dangerous. I'd like nothing to fall off and jam there while riding. Nice hugger, BTW. I'd go screws with rubber washers and safetywire to boot. Drill along the neutral axis of the tube, and hope the aluminum will not fatigue.
I'd use double sided tape with no concern.
As long as all surfaces are clean it will stay there.
Even if it did come off it wouldn't jam the wheel.
I'd risk that before 'hoping' the aluminum didn't fatigue.
The other option instead of drilling is to tackweld some threaded studs on the swingarm
make them just long enough to put nylon threaded nuts and your should have to worry about fatigue or it falling off due to tape failing.
Or you can sell it to me. and buy the other one that is easier to mount. ive been looking for that one forever!!!
I'd do 4 or 6 steel zip ties and double sided tape and call it a day.
I have a hugger like this on my S2R it has secondary carbon piece that sits in front of the hugger it has mounting points for the swing arm and then attaches to the hugger. I took some quick pictures but in hindsight they kind of suck :-\

What i might do, is make up some brackets that I can fit to where the brake line clamps screw on the swing arm then bolt them through the hugger and double side tape the bottom of the hugger the swing arm.
