so ive got a new monster, i want to put a dual controller in, but i think i only have space for 1 controller.. theres a sort of a dead space in front of the tank filler between the key on the new tank cover panels, i think theres only room for 1 knob, but i want get 2 in there, option 2, is mounting them to the handle bar clamps and just get the sealed box instead of the permanant mount, any thoughts?
I'm no mechanic but I'd say you better look at your stator and regulator before you start adding things. I have seen, numerous times, where this hasn't worked out because of the current most Monsters put out. My guess is that it's fixed on the newer ones??
consider getting the controler model that clips on your jacket or tankbag.
you don't need it on the bike in summer.

IIRC we have plenty of extra on the new monsters... then again I did burn out my stator during a long trip. (only had the phone charging occasionally and the GPS charging (mounted charger)
But I don't think the two are related, just giving full disclosure
I've been left 300 miles from home for the very thing you want to do. Just check the output and do the math. I was too cheap to upgrade my stator and paid dearly to get home. [laugh]
According to one section of the manual
"The motorcycle is equipped with a 12 V, 520 W alternator"
but in other another section
"Alternator Capacity 12 V - 480 W "
My guess is 520 watts is the correct figure since that is the wattage since Ducati went 3 phase. Either rating is sufficient for heated clothing. Just keep in mind you need to keep the revs up a bit to get that.
I run heated gloves 27 watts consumption. If you are not moving at highway speeds, the glove is mildly warm.
When your getting it on, that thing gets TOASTY!
rode with the gloves wired to the bike today.. awesome!!!! 38 in the morning, alpinestars p-1 drystar pants and jacket, i had a turtle fur neck cover
the neck cover made it a little difficult to turn my head effectively, but it kept everything nice and toasty, but i think having a heated jacket will make it even better
