Title: Honoring Vets
Post by: Grampa on October 28, 2012, 08:05:25 AM
Dear Friends,
On November 13th, the wife and I will be accompanying the next Honor Flight Kern County delegation to Washington D.C. They will be flying 93 World War II heroes back to see the WWII Memorial and other area memorials and monuments, and Arlington Cemetery. On the return flight, veterans are treated to a “mail call” during which they are given letters that have been written to them by friends, family, school children, and anyone else who would like to thank them for their service. As it was during the time of their service to our country, “mail call” is a highlight of the Honor flight experience, too. (It's also TOP SECRET, though, so pretend like you don't know!) Anyhow, if you would be interested in writing a "Dear Veteran" letter to be shared with one of these special guys, please PM it to me by Monday, November 5th. I'll print it out and pass it on to the organizers so that it can be included in the packet that one of the veterans will receive.
Thank you,
Bp.

yup.... we depart Bakersfield early Tuesday morning... arrive in DC later that day.... quick tour, get to our rooms, dinner, then touring the memorials all day Wednesday, then fly home early Thursday morning. We may even get to visit out state Senator too if time permits.
