Title: the little things in life (that make you smile)
Post by: Speeddog on November 02, 2012, 09:23:34 PM
Hearing/seeing a Lambo go by on the freeway, howling a wonderful tune, popping and belching flame out of the exhaust as the driver feathers the throttle.

Flatlanders that pass you in a big snowstorm and end up off the road in their expensive SUV's.  [laugh]

While sitting next to your well behaved kid. Something about watching a little kid try and tackle an ice cream cone on a hot day. Usually ends with a lot of wetwipes and bath time.

Hitting the green lights.

Finding forgotten money in my pocket.

I'm looking ahead by a few hours - watching Colin Kaepernick hit Randy Moss in stride 70 yards down field.

I also really enjoy watching our local pair of redtailed hawks soaring and playing in the wind.  Their "skree" cry is just about perfect for a bird of prey.  Makes me smile but must strike fear into the hearts of the local rabbits.

Even though we go on "the walk" to chase rabbits it makes me smile when I see one getting away and girl isn't even on the right track.
And it makes her happy just chasing the scent around. She comes back with a big dog smile.  :)

It's a nice place. I've been there for the last 3 years.

I won't stay here forever. My car is a teenager and, as such, is a temperamental piece of shit that doesn't always do as it's told.

Fortunately I'm legally allowed to replace it.

What happens next will not be safe for work nor fit for television audiences, tho I may decide to offer a PPV.  [evil]

I'm guessing that rolling off the lot with whatever I wind up driving next will give me nearly as much satisfaction as seeing my aging piece of Swedish speed-metal rolling away as "someone else's problem."

ahhhh...dolci had a 2000 XC which we sent off to an auction when the rear differential started making it's end known to us....and this was after we had put a trans and a radiator and other various things into it within the year....140-ishK on it and though it is missed in a lot of capacities....it was a good move I think in the end...

Pulled up in a country town for a drink while out riding yesterday.....

... elderly bloke waiting outside the fish & chip shop for his dinner nods towards my M1100 and says....

"that bike sounds REAL sick...."

"its OK, its supposed to sound like that  :)"

"reckon it'll get you home?"

"yeah, its fine  :)"

Points to his farm truck full of junk... "we can chuck it in the back of the truck.... sounds REAL sick"

"thanks, its fine really.  Its supposed to sound like that"

"..... hope you dont have far to go then"..........

He didnt know me, but he knew I was too stupid to realise I needed help.... and drove off with his dinner, leaving me to imminent mechanical destruction.

It was a kind offer  :)

Logical really, she can be seen if she's not hiding her eyes, therefore if I can't see her, she must be hiding her eyes. Simple.

I worked as ground crew for an airline for a while and your right, draining the biffy was not so fun.

What made me smile was cramming a smaller coworker in the nose storage compartment on a Fairchild Metro and getting my other coworker to 'get the luggage up front' and watching him freek out when he opened it up.

Saturday morning, cleaning the cathedral ceiling in my living room with my 5 year old daughter helping, we have the following conversation:
V: Daddy why are there so many spider webs up there ?
Me: They're not spider webs honey, they're cobwebs.
V: Well how do the cobs get in the house ?
[laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

(and before anyone corrects me, yes I know cobwebs are made by spiders )

And it auto updated my phone as well.  So I have a quick contact button that says Megatron on it with a picture of a cat face (one of ours)

So when she calls me, it will say Megatron [laugh]

I really don't know what's wrong with me.

Really really high winds that give me the ever so slight chance of telling my boss that the work hoopty got crushed by a big tree limb (or better yet: an entire tree) which therefore created access to the interior which a crook took advantage of who then took my work computer and shit.

Come ONNN big winds!

So the SO and I went to the Minnesota Zoo this weekend (a pretty cool place), since she had never been there…

In the Minnesota Trail section, which consists of native critters, there is a rather impressive Lynx display. As we were walking up to it, we saw a young family consisting of the two parents and their young son, who was maybe four or so. The two lynx were front and center, and the one was sort of nuzzling the other. Within a second or two he suddenly sort of grabbed the other by the scruff of the neck with his mouth, stepped over, and they started getting it on! The young mom, horrified, spun around her son and began to lead him away from the terrifying spectacle as I quietly said, “allllll riiiiiiight” in my best Quagmire imitation. Her grinning husband then took off after them.

To think that you’d see such a terrible thing in such a place as a zoo!
