Title: Isle of Man doc vid
Post by: uclabiker06 on November 08, 2012, 10:21:08 AM
Wow, I always knew Isle of man must be dangerous but I didn't know it was this dangerous.  Just can't get it out of my mind.  Part of me says that race should not exist.  It makes Motogp look like a walk in the park in terms of danger and I never thought I would say that about a sport.  Then there is part of me that thinks its the most amazing thing in the motorcycling world.  I'm speechless at this point.

It shouldn't but it does. And does. That's why it's great it give's us free will you decide to race the island or not. If the powers that be decide to remove that then I would say motorcycling is dead.

I still can't believe a race like this exists in this day and age.  These guys are all modern day gladiators.

Irish road racing is all like that...curbs (@ :29 !!!!), walls, trees...insane speeds on narrow country roads.  Fantastic!

Most-Extreme-Sportâœ" Irish-Road-Racing âœ" . Ulster GP 2012* . North West 200 . Isle of Man TT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzWf-6UzQUA&feature=player_embedded#)

They are not gladiators, just risk takers.

There are all sorts of extreme sports that are dangerous, BASE jumping, downhill skiing, to name two.  Only the pace is a bit slower.

Did you watch the Ulster TT vid?
Calling them just "risk takers" is showing a lack of respect.  >:(

I did not mean that in a negative sense. Only that gladiators fought each other to  the death, the IOM is group of riders competing against each other and trying  to avoid death.

So I just want to be sure I understand.  On average one of the participants in the race don't come back alive? Is that correct?

There have been more than 200 deaths since 1910.
