G'day all
Whilst Cleaning my bike yesterday, I noticed a drip from what appeared to be the microswitch on the clutch mastercylinder.... After closer inspection and removal of the switch, I could see that fluid was coming from a small hole under where the switch sits( not the switch mount holes). It was only leaking upon releasing the clutch lever, so I imagine it's some sort of breather hole or something similar.
I removed the internals and found that the seal that sits on that hole had slight wear on the lips which must be allowing the fluid to leak..
From my searching online it appears that these seals cannot be found and I have to replace my m/c?? Wtf, surely there is somewhere these seals can be had? Anyone have any experience or any idea where I might get one from? I really don't want to shell out for a new master for such a minor part.. This is on my s4rs by the way.
Alternatively if anyone has a spare master for an s4r or 999 , let me know how much you'd like for it...
Thanks guys
Damo
You could try rotating the piston so the seal position is changed and the worn bit{?) is shifted to a different position!? ??? ;D
Were you "losing" brake fluid from the reservoir?? Thinking maybe water from the "cleanup" "wash"??
YEah mate, tried that but it still let's fluid out... Definetly not water either, no water involved in the clean... Worst timing, I am taking it to get registered next week!!
Gowanlachs stock (or at least did a few years back) the clutch master seals, but not the brake master seals - apparently due to overzealous lawyers in the US forcing Brembo to stop selling brake rebuild parts because people would make the beast with two backs things up and then crash, and sue Brembo (facepalm!)
This was for the integrated reservoir "coffin style" masters I've got. I've never tried to buy parts for the remote res pumps.
Could be worth calling Gowies - they are a Brembo dealer, so even if Ducati don't sell parts, Gowies might be able to get em anyway.
One silver lining, Brembo prices for complete master (and slave) assemblies are surprisingly less expensive than I expected...

Thanks big, I'll give em a try [thumbsup]
try these guys if you have no luck locally too.

KTM Super Duke (IIRC) have Brembo radial M/C's, and I've heard that the internals can be bought from a dealer.
nah, i tried when i rebuilt one of the overpriced shit boxes, caliper kits are available though, and they're cheap!
Yeah been though all this with my s4r, cant get the seals. Had to get a new master cylinder, Brembo have us stitched up.
eBay for a used one or a new race Brembo series
Thanks all for the input...
Ended up getting a new master for a good price through work, so problem solved... Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again [thumbsup]
5 more days and she'll be on the road!!...
