Well another job opened up in another area I know nothing about.
Ft. Lee, VA.
I'll repeat from the Hanscom post..
I'll be on the lookout for a 5-bed house in a great school.
I have 2 in HS and 2 going to middle school in a couple of years, so priority one is school.
priority two is commute. I can handle about 40 min or so commute.
What are people's experience in the area?
is there a Duc dealer or great small shop in the area? (priority me :D)
Wait for something to open out in the west Raux.
People say there is a really good restaurant in Richmond.

Curious to see if this thread gets locked out for no apparent reason like your other one. [popcorn]

Richmond is a great city, even though Im a little biased ( born and raised). We are less than 2 hour hours away from the mountains, the beach, DC and more. Richmond is affordable, historic and has a lot to offer for the outdoorsy type. Raux, pm me any time for more info!
check out chesterfield county schools
I had looked at Chesterfield.
I guess Mithlodian and Cosby are the two best HS.
The northeast is a bit far, and much more expensive.
Definitely will be looking for good eats, since we're leaving Europe, where good restaurants are everywhere.
Nice write up in Outside
The idea is growning on me.
It's a great small city. Good universities as well

He most likely doesn't live in a hole in the ground either.
I do live above ground. Since IZ can reach the pegs on his bike I don't think I'm much taller though.
Big platform soled shoes
Where's the love...the Christmas cheer?! ??? [thumbsdown]
Raux..I researched Richmond for a possible place to move to. It's seems cool and very convenient to the major East coast and southern cities. Nothing will compare to EUR though so I think you might be a bit disappointed anywhere you go in the US.

On topic, some have joked that Richmond is the 'worlds biggest 2nd place trophy gallery'
Seems a good place to live. Offers lots of 'big city' amenities without some of the hassles. I'm in DC, well Arlington, and traffic is a beast. Richmond does have traffic, but it's not as just... well stupid as the larger cities as you progress north.
Something to check on in the various counties is personal property tax. I don't know if any down there do it, but Arlington does, fairfax did. If you're not familiar with it, it is a reoccurring anual tax on items like Cars, motos, and the like. It can be a decent bit of cash one needs to come up with and is rather irritating... so worth checking out.
